Foreign affairs and international integration continue to be the 'bright spot' of Nghe An
On the morning of January 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a conference to review the work of the diplomatic sector in 2024 and set out key tasks and directions for 2025.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a speech at the conference.
The conference was attended by Comrade Bui Thanh Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Also attending were leaders of ministries, departments and branches. Localities and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad participated online.

Affirming the role of foreign affairs
In 2024, the world situation continues to fluctuate in a complex manner with many instabilities and conflicts. Urgent global issues such as climate change, natural disasters, epidemics, food security, water security, etc. have multi-dimensional impacts, seriously threatening the stable and sustainable development of countries.

In such a global context, Vietnam has maintained a peaceful, stable and developing national situation and is considered by international public opinion as one of the “bright spots” in the region. Foreign affairs and diplomacy have been proactively, synchronously, creatively and effectively implemented, continuing to make important contributions to firmly consolidating a peaceful and stable environment and an open foreign policy situation, favorable for socio-economic development and the protection of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while continuing to enhance the country’s international position and prestige.
At the conference, opinions and discussions further clarified achievements in diplomatic work in 2024. Vietnamese diplomacy will promote its glorious tradition and continue to contribute to the country's great victories.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said: Foreign affairs and international integration continue to be a bright spot; being implemented comprehensively, synchronously, drastically and achieving many positive results on all three pillars: Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the province.
In particular, economic diplomacy has many innovations and positive changes in quality and quantity. Opening up many new markets and directions, changing the approach by organizing many economic diplomacy activities directly to partners, promoting the locality to many countries and territories in a lively and creative way; welcoming and working with many international delegations, associations, corporations and enterprises, thereby attracting new, high-quality investment flows with the perspective of expanding cooperation with the goal of sustainable development in areas such as digital economy, green economy, circular economy, etc.
Attracting foreign investment(FDI) of Nghe An in 2024 will reach nearly 1.75 billion USD; for the third consecutive year in the top 10 provinces and cities leading in FDI attraction; Total export turnover is estimated at 3.7 billion USD; import turnover is 2.2 billion USD).

Security - defense, border and territorial diplomacy are regular tasks, which are focused on implementation. Cultural diplomacy has many innovations in the way of doing things, contributing to promoting the value of cultural heritage. The work of overseas Vietnamese is given attention, through overseas Vietnamese, implementing exchange and cooperation activities, propaganda, promotion and encouraging overseas Vietnamese to turn to their homeland. The province's annual remittances reach about 500 million USD.

Orienting tasks and solutions for 2025, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said:Nghe AnContinue to develop the Party's foreign relations in depth to enhance trust and create a solid political foundation for relations between Vietnam and other countries. Promote State diplomacy through: Consolidating and promoting friendly and cooperative relations with localities and traditional and new partners. Promote economic diplomacy, cultural diplomacy and national security and defense in depth, practically and effectively. At the same time, innovate people-to-people diplomacy activities; promote friendly and cooperative relations with other countries in depth and practically.
Nghe An proposed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continue to support Nghe An in connecting with partners in Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, the United States, India and the European Union, focusing on economic diplomacy activities such as approaching multinational corporations, international organizations and business associations of countries, participating in local-level international cooperation mechanisms, increasing investment attraction, cooperation in the fields of new technology, semiconductor technology, renewable energy, digital economy, green economy, circular economy. At the same time, continue to pay attention to directing and developing local foreign affairs in a professional and modern direction: Consolidating the apparatus, improving the capacity of the staff working in foreign affairs.

Creating a new foreign stature
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's speech at the conference once again affirmed the leadership and direction of the Party and State leaders and the role of the diplomatic sector in the overall development of the country.
According to the Prime Minister, foreign affairs activities must adhere to the policy of national independence and socialism; continue to implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, openness, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations. Grasp the situation at home and abroad; avoid being passive or surprised in foreign policy towards subjects, partners and localities.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the Foreign Affairs sector to accelerate, make breakthroughs, review the goals of the entire term and 2025 for implementation in 2025. Successfully organize the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the same time, well organize the country's major ceremonies; promote the image of Vietnam to the world; firmly protect the country's independence and sovereignty, effectively implement deep and effective international integration...
At the same time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has proposed solutions to guide the diplomatic sector, including: Foreign affairs activities must serve the growth target of 8%, striving for higher growth in favorable conditions. Maintain, consolidate and enhance foreign relations with all countries, especially major countries, neighboring countries and traditional friends. Diplomatic activities must contribute to promoting new productive forces such as new materials, biomedicine, quantum science, new energy, clean energy, etc.

Along with that, the Foreign Affairs sector needs to complete the construction of a streamlined apparatus, take over the apparatuses of diplomatic agencies; improve the quality of the diplomatic staff to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation; create a new diplomatic stature, creating favorable momentum for the country to enter the era of national development.
