(Baonghean) - From Muong Xen town - the center of Ky Son district - it takes about 2 hours by car to reach Heaven's Gate in Muong Long commune. Standing at an altitude of over 1,500m above sea level, it feels as if you can touch the blue sky. Muong Long shines brightly in the early morning sun. In spring, Muong Long is vibrant and fragrant with vast fields of peach and plum blossoms.

As summer arrives, peach and plum blossoms follow tourists down to the lowlands. In summer, the climate in Muong Long is very cool. Gentle breezes sweep down the mountain slopes, carrying moisture from the misty clouds, keeping the temperature below 23 degrees Celsius. The Chao Sa stream flows along, forming a long stretch of water, and at its end, it creates majestic and picturesque waterfalls and rapids.

Leaving the orchards laden with sweet plums, we head up to Bat Cave, located only about 100 meters from the center of the commune. The cave is nearly 2 kilometers deep, 5 to 7 meters wide, and over 10 meters high. The air inside is cool, and countless stalactites, formed over tens of thousands of years, create unique shapes. Here, visitors also have the opportunity to explore the culture of the Mong people. They can participate in harvesting fruit with the locals, and especially enjoy staying in cool, earthen-floored houses and sharing a family meal with the Mong people, featuring their famous black chicken. Black chicken has become a specialty and a "brand" for Ky Son. While the Thai people are known for their brocade weaving, the Mong people are famous for their embroidery, weaving, and knife forging.

When visiting Muong Long, be sure to see the highland market. There are two market days each month, one at the beginning and one in the middle. People go to the market mainly to meet and socialize, not just for making a living. If Ky Son is a colorful painting, then Muong Long is the most captivating brushstroke. To develop tourism, Ky Son district is calling for investment focusing on three areas: the Muong Long tourist destination, the My Ly commune tourist area (this is a hydroelectric reservoir area with beautiful scenery and abundant fish resources at the headwaters of the Nam Non River), and another area of pristine pine hills that have existed for generations in the two communes of Muong Ai and Muong Tip. Bidding farewell to Muong Long in the sunshine and flowers, standing on the "Heaven's Gate" and looking back, many will surely be even more amazed by the beauty of this place.
