Speaking to VnExpress on the morning of January 25, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, representative of Hanoi Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation (Hanoi Beer Company), said that the company had concluded the incident of hundreds of Hanoi beer cans having their expiration dates and production dates erased on the bottom of the cans. "The error was caused by the inkjet printer. The company has responded in writing to the Quang Nam authorities," Mr. Minh said, adding that today he would work with the interdisciplinary team to clarify the incident.
Regarding compensation for the groom's family, Mr. Minh said that he went to the house of Mr. Nguyen Tan Phong (25 years old, Tam Vinh commune, Phu Ninh, Quang Nam) to apologize and support the entire cost of buying 60 cases of beer for the family. "The company proposed to support the cost for Mr. Phong's family to re-organize a ceremony, which can also be said to be a re-wedding for him with the participation of friends and neighbors to make up for the unhappy day before. In addition, the company invited the bride and groom to Quang Binh to visit the factory and travel and relax," said Mr. Minh.
Discussing the company's offer, groom Phong confirmed the information, however he and his family "need time to think" so they could not agree immediately.

Previously, on January 17, Mr. Nguyen Tan Phong bought 60 cases of Hanoi beer to hold a wedding ceremony. When the party started, guests discovered that more than 300 beer cans had signs of having their production and expiration dates erased, so they left one by one. People thought that Mr. Phong was greedy for cheapness and bought expired goods to entertain guests. The 40-table party that followed was left with only close friends and relatives of the groom.
