Cua Lo Water Supply Joint Stock Company: Expanding water supply capacity to 10,000 m3/day
(Baonghean) - The operating capacity of Cua Lo Water Supply Joint Stock Company is 3,000m3/day, while the demand for clean water from customers is always high, especially during the beach tourism season, so the company is always in a state of supply not meeting demand.
To solve this problem, with the support of relevant levels and sectors and the efforts of Cua Lo Water Supply Joint Stock Company, the project to upgrade and expand the water supply system of Cua Lo town with a capacity of 10,000 m3/day (loan from the Asian Development Bank - ADB) is currently being implemented and is determined to complete the project in the 2018 beach tourism season.

Currently, there are nearly 4,500 customers using clean water from Cua Lo Water Supply Joint Stock Company, including more than 80 units that are administrative agencies, many customers are large-scale production and business enterprises such as hotels, restaurants, Vinbearl Cua Hoi projects, Vinamilk Milk Factory... In the summer, the demand for clean water increases from 120 - 150%, while the operating capacity only reaches 3,000 m3/day.
Mr. Nguyen Dau Luong - Director of Cua Lo Water Supply Joint Stock Company said: In response to the increasing demand for clean water from customers, in 2015, the company invested nearly 3 billion VND to install an additional 4 km pipeline to take clean water from the water supply system of the Vinh Sub-region Water Plant, thereby increasing the water supply capacity by 1,500 m3/day and early 2017, the company invested billions of dong to drill an additional DT5 water well with a capacity of 1,000 m3/day to support additional raw water supply for Cua Lo Water Plant to operate, but still cannot meet customers' clean water needs.
Using clean water is a legitimate demand of the people, especially for the coastal tourist town, so Cua Lo Water Supply Joint Stock Company is determined to implement the project of upgrading and expanding Cua Lo Water Plant from 3,000 m3up to 13,000 m3/day including: Construction of Nghi Hoa Water Plant in Nghi Hoa Commune, Nghi Loc District, with an area of 8.1 hectares, using water from Phuong Tich River and construction of a booster pump station, office in Nghi Huong Ward, Cua Lo Town with an area of nearly 1.3 hectares, at the same time developing a transmission, distribution, service network, connecting to 7,352 customers. The project has a total investment of nearly 250 billion VND and through international bidding, the consortium of contractors has been selected, namely Ha Huy Joint Stock Company, VINACONEX 12 Company and VIVASIN 2 Company.
After winning the bid, the construction units focused on equipment, machinery, vehicles and human resources to implement the project and during the implementation process (started in July 2017), they encountered many difficulties, because the construction site of Nghi Hoa Water Plant (near Phuong Tich Bridge) has very complex geology and the site was previously a lake more than 4 m deep due to the exploitation of soil for making fired bricks... In addition, during the recent storm, the construction site was submerged in flood water and had to mobilize large capacity water pumps to operate continuously for many days, affecting the progress by nearly 30 days.
Mr. Le Quoc Hung - Project Manager said: "Ha Huy Joint Stock Company is the leading enterprise of the contractor consortium and is in charge of one of the main items of the project, which is Nghi Hoa Water Plant with a capacity of 10,000 m3/day. Currently, at the construction site, which is in the stage of leveling the ground and making the foundation (the main construction stage is by machinery), Ha Huy Joint Stock Company has mobilized 12 mechanical equipment, including excavators, rollers, bulldozers, compactors and dozens of trucks transporting soil and rock, along with dozens of workers and engineers.
As planned, the Nghi Hoa Water Plant project will be completed within 18 months, but this is an important project and with timely support from relevant levels, sectors, and investors, the construction unit is striving to complete ahead of schedule, determined to put it into use during the 2018 Cua Lo beach tourism season. To speed up the progress, along with leveling the ground and making the foundation, Ha Huy Joint Stock Company is currently focusing on constructing the following items: Sedimentation profile, Raw water pumping station, etc.

At the project, one of the most difficult and complicated issues at present is the site clearance work for the construction of the water pipeline system (transmission, distribution and service), in which the transmission pipeline system is more than 15.5 km long and has a size of D250 - D450 and is facing difficulties in site clearance work.
Mr. Vu Anh Tuan - VINACONEX 12 Company said: At the routes that have been cleared, the unit has focused on compactors, excavators, rollers and 40 technical staff and workers actively constructing pipelines to quickly restore the original state of the ground for the people. Currently, the unit has completed more than 40% of the volume and in the coming time, if the clearance work goes smoothly, it will be determined to complete the transmission pipeline system by the Lunar New Year 2018.
In the distribution water pipeline network of more than 30 km with dimensions from D110 - D400 and the service pipeline network of 270 km with dimensions from D32 - D90, along with the pipeline system connecting to customers, the construction unit has implemented 20 - 42% of the volume. Or in the construction of the booster pump station and the operator's house in Nghi Huong commune (Cua Lo town), the construction unit (VIVASIN 2 Company) has completed the fence, pump station foundation and poured the first floor of the operator's house...
Mr. Nguyen Huu Luan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cua Lo Water Supply Joint Stock Company said: “The Cua Lo water supply system is invested synchronously, installed with modern equipment and clean water treatment technology. The water source is taken from Phuong Tich River, brought into the settling pond, through the raw water pumping station, to the treatment cluster (vertical mixing tank, reaction tank, Lamella settling tank, rapid filter tank), through chlorine disinfection and to the clean water pumping tank, then brought to the booster pumping station and to the consumption network. After completing this important project, it will actively contribute to improving water supply conditions, environmental sanitation, improving the quality of life of people, units, businesses and creating favorable conditions to attract investment, serving the socio-economic development, tourism development of Cua Lo Town”.
