Mrs. Tuat recalls: “In the past, the field behind my house was mainly used to grow one-crop rice and other crops such as beans, peanuts, corn, and cassava. While rice was only enough for daily meals, other crops did not have good prices on the market, were sold at low prices, and were not worth the effort of care, so they had to be used as animal feed. My husband and I had to do extra jobs to make ends meet. However, since converting this area to grow sugarcane and taking care of it wholeheartedly, the family has had a stable source of income because the sugarcane is of good quality, the output is guaranteed, and the company buys all of it…”

Not far away, the straight sugarcane fields of Mr. Nguyen Vinh Ba's family in Tan Xuan commune also make many people admire. Mr. Ba shared: Sugarcane has been with my family for over 10 years. When I first started growing it, my family only had a few meters. I planted it spontaneously, without a concentrated growing area, leading to fragmented harvesting, different sugarcane quality in each field, and unstable prices. However, in the past 2 years, I have converted the entire rice field to sugarcane, and the efficiency has improved significantly as the sugarcane grows evenly. Tan Xuan Commune is one of the key sugarcane growing areas of Tan Ky District with an area of ​​over 400 hectares with nearly 1,000 households growing in all hamlets. With the determination to build large model fields, Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company has made efforts with the local authorities to successfully build 2 large model fields, each field has an area of ​​50 hectares in 2 hamlets Vinh Thanh and Yen Xuan. The sugarcane yield here reaches an average of 61 tons/ha, higher than the average of the whole district. In particular, there are fields that are meticulously cared for, with good soil quality, so the sugarcane yield has reached nearly 100 tons/ha.

To achieve such results, in addition to the people's solidarity and consensus in accepting land consolidation and building concentrated sugarcane fields, there is also the awareness of strictly following the absolute sugarcane care process. The company has been converting inefficient highland areas to sugarcane cultivation and focusing on building concentrated sugarcane fields for many years now and has achieved many results. This work has helped eliminate the situation of small-scale, fragmented sugarcane cultivation, increased income for sugarcane growers, and helped people save time and costs for sugarcane care. The company is also more favorable in investing in infrastructure for sugarcane growing areas, bringing in large-scale machines for sugarcane production - something that was previously impossible when growing small-scale crops.

The results showed that over 10 thousand tons of sugarcane were harvested by machine, solving the problem of labor and cost for many households growing sugarcane with large areas. However, in reality, it still cannot meet the needs of sugarcane growers. In that situation, this year's sugarcane harvest, the company will contract 2 sugarcane harvesters to serve the people right from the beginning of the season, in order to speed up the sugarcane harvest and reduce costs for sugarcane growers during the harvest.

This year, the sugarcane material area of ​​Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company covers nearly 6,000 hectares, in 5 districts: Tan Ky, Yen Thanh, Do Luong, Anh Son and Thanh Chuong; the average yield is estimated at over 51 tons/ha. The factory is currently preparing for the new pressing season, officially purchasing sugarcane from farmers from the end of November.
