(Baonghean.vn) - At the end of the 2016 - 2017 crushing season, Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company's sugarcane output reached 330 thousand tons and 34.5 thousand tons of sugar. Currently, the company has many policies to develop raw material areas.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Quy - Deputy Director of Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company said: Because the sugarcane area in the 2016 - 2017 crop year only reached more than 5 thousand hectares, the crushing season ended nearly 1 month earlier than previous years (last year the crushing season ended on April 30).

The average sugarcane yield reached 42 tons/ha, sugarcane output reached 330 thousand tons, producing 34.5 thousand tons of sugar. Sugar prices increased at the end of the season, so the Company increased the sugarcane purchase price for farmers by 70 thousand VND/ton (970 thousand VND/ton).

This year, Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company has a support policy to increase sugarcane area and output. Up to now, the whole Tan Ky district has newly planted 2,400 hectares of sugarcane out of 3,200 hectares, with a total sugarcane area of ​​over 6,000 hectares.

Currently, the Company's raw material area has about 400 hectares of high-yield sugarcane with new sugarcane varieties: Viet Duong 93159, NK 9211, KhonKaen 2 and 3. The Company supports households growing model sugarcane with 1 hectare of 6 tons of sugarcane sludge, and provides 100% capital loans to buy sugarcane seeds and prepare the land. In addition, the Company also has policies for key communes and special communes, providing loans to buy plows.

Strive for the next sugarcane crop, the average sugarcane yield will reach 50 - 55 tons per hectare.
