Song Con Sugar Corporation: Many solutions for development

(Baonghean) - To stand firm and compete in the domestic sugar market, Song Con Sugar Company is investing in mechanization and applying technical advancements in the planting, caring, and harvesting of sugarcane; completing the investment to expand the sugar processing plant's capacity from 3,300 tons of sugarcane/day to 5,000 tons of sugarcane/day in a modern direction to ensure good product quality and high recovery efficiency.

To facilitate sustainable development, the company has continuously invested in and developed its raw material areas over the years. As a result, the company's sugarcane growing area has expanded steadily, from being limited to Tan Ky to boldly investing in Anh Son, Thanh Chuong, Do Luong, and Ha Tinh.

With the motto "Where production is good, the company invests," Song Con Sugar Company continues to attract people to grow and cultivate sugarcane for sale to the factory. It's easy to see that sugarcane in the Tan Ky area is carefully tended by the people, with meticulous leaf removal, spraying, and soil preparation. This is because sugarcane is the main source of income for people in many communes in Tan Ky. Therefore, the company's sugarcane area is steadily increasing, currently reaching approximately 8,500 hectares...

To increase sugarcane productivity, the company is piloting the application of mechanization in the planting, care, and harvesting stages to increase labor productivity, reduce physical effort, lower production costs, and improve sugarcane yield and quality. They have invested in a drip irrigation model for sugarcane, covering 40 hectares, and plan to expand this in the coming years. The company has also established a sugarcane seed farm to propagate sugarcane seedlings to supply the raw material area, replacing the old, degenerated varieties; currently, 14 varieties are being propagated at the farm, and evaluation and selection of suitable varieties are underway for wider propagation in the area. In the 2014-2015 crushing season, the Song Con Sugar Factory processed 430,000 tons of sugarcane, producing 45,263 tons of sugar, while the fertilizer plant produced 10,000 tons.

The company has implemented numerous timely and transparent investment and support policies for developing raw material areas, which have been approved and supported by all levels of government and accepted and embraced by sugarcane growers. The company's raw material area is basically stable and developing, providing sufficient raw materials for the factory's operation. The company has also effectively invested in equipment and machinery to improve productivity. In response to the policy of transforming production models, the company is investing capital to establish new companies by converting agricultural enterprises and youth groups into limited liability companies with two members. This aims to expand production scale, diversify products, and create conditions for businesses to leverage the existing advantages of each member to organize production and business effectively, stand firm, and develop in the current trend of market integration.

To achieve more sustainable development in the future, Mr. Le Dinh Hoan, Director of Song Con Sugar Company, stated: “In the coming years, the company will focus on investing in the development of raw material areas, ensuring sufficient raw materials for the factory's 5,000 tons of sugarcane per day operation in a stable and sustainable manner, increasing productivity and quality, and increasing income per unit area. We will build a seed production center to import new sugarcane varieties with high yield and quality, suitable for the climate conditions of the raw material area, to gradually replace older, less efficient varieties and supply seeds to other units. We will continue to invest in mechanization and apply technical advancements in the planting, caring for, and harvesting of sugarcane. Currently, based on the Provincial People's Committee's approval to increase the sugar factory's capacity to 5,000 tons of sugarcane per day, it is necessary to accelerate investment progress to ensure operation in the 2016-2017 crop year; the company is building and perfecting appropriate investment and support mechanisms for sugarcane growers to ensure stable and developing raw material areas; coordinating with Thanh Nien Xung Phong 4 - Song Con Company Limited to expedite the necessary procedures for land lease; implementing planning; implementing regimes and policies for members of the general team; and proceeding with...
