The CSB 8004 is a multi-purpose ship with an advanced, modern design, meeting all international standards and is one of the most modern ships of the Vietnam Coast Guard today. The ship has the function and mission of patrolling to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands, enforcing the law in the seas and continental shelf; rescuing ships in distress; searching and rescuing in Vietnamese and international waters when requested.
Major Le Quang Hung, Captain of ship CSB8004, said: Right from the first days of receiving and putting into operation, the officers, soldiers, and sailors on the ship proactively researched, enthusiastically learned, improved their English, and actively exchanged with Dutch experts. Therefore, after only a short time, all officers and soldiers were completely mastered the ship's weapons, equipment, and modern facilities and brought the ship to perform many important tasks of the Coast Guard.
Especially with long voyages at sea, the biggest difficulty for officers and soldiers on board is the weather and wind conditions. Therefore, in addition to political courage and determination, each officer and soldier must train themselves to be physically fit to overcome all challenges at the top of the waves and wind.

Sergeant Tran Van Duc said that during the implementation of the mission, many trips had to face many difficulties and challenges such as the joint patrol of fisheries in the Gulf of Tonkin between Vietnam and China in early April. It was raining, with big waves and strong winds. Many people, although very familiar with the waves and winds, still could not avoid seasickness. However, the special thing was that no one left their positions. All the brothers of each department on the ship were always close, united, and helped each other in their work to complete all assigned tasks well.
Senior Lieutenant Phan Huu Hoe, head of the electromechanical department of ship CSB8004, confided that because he had experience working on other ships of the Coast Guard, he was trusted by the leadership to be assigned to the ship from the first day of its establishment.
However, when working on the modern ship 8004 with many important political missions, especially foreign affairs missions at sea, each officer and soldier had to make efforts to study and research to achieve a certain level, firmly controlling the ship through the storms, because the electromechanical industry is considered "the place that keeps the heartbeat of the ship".
"The order is to go, once leaving the port, the mission is to complete excellently"
Every voyage is important, but in foreign affairs at sea, a ship having an accident will greatly affect the journey, so no one is allowed to be subjective or negligent because the ship's engine is as capricious as an 18-year-old girl, an accident can happen at any time, so the more careful the preparation is, the safer the voyage will be...
Although it has just been put into service with the Coast Guard, the CSB8004 has successfully completed dozens of long-term missions in distant waters, with tens of thousands of safe nautical miles. In the past 3 months alone, the 8004 has carried out many important missions, notably the joint patrol of fisheries in the Gulf of Tonkin between Vietnam and China; and carried out the delegation's foreign affairs activities of the Coast Guard.
Recently, ship CSB8004 successfully carried a working delegation of the Vietnam Coast Guard to visit and exchange with the China Coast Guard.
According to Senior Lieutenant Dinh Ngoc Van, Political Commissar of ship CSB8004: Having clearly defined the mission, before each foreign affairs mission at sea of the Vietnam Coast Guard, each unit has careful preparation, each officer and soldier on the ship has a very high will and determination because the political and ideological qualities of each person on the ship are the decisive factors for the successful implementation of the missions of ship CSB8004.

Colonel Ngo Binh Minh, Commander of Coast Guard Region 1 (far right) commanded the journey to visit and exchange with the Chinese Coast Guard. |
Colonel Ngo Binh Minh, Commander of Coast Guard Region 1, affirmed: Acting as a bridge of friendship at sea, the officers and soldiers of ship CSB8004 have always been united, determined to fulfill their duties well, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment in Vietnam's seas.
Not only do they perform well the patrol and foreign affairs tasks at sea, during their duties, the officers and soldiers of the CSB8004 ship also regularly do a good job of propaganda, dissemination of legal education, and distributing leaflets providing the watch frequencies of coastal stations, watch stations, rescue frequencies and phone numbers of the authorities. At the same time, they visit, give gifts and encourage fishermen to feel secure in going out to sea.
Regardless of the weather, sunshine, rain, wind and waves, the slogan "When ordered, go, once leaving the port, complete the mission excellently" has permeated the blood of every officer and sailor of ship CSB8004, Squadron 101, Coast Guard Region 1 Command. They still silently overcome the waves and wind to take on the role of a bridge between the mainland and the open sea and, more than that, it is an honor and pride to devote themselves to the sovereignty and security of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, worthy of being a bridge of friendship in the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin./.
