Kim is still very flexible when going up and down the stairs of the stilt house every day to chop firewood or cook for her children and grandchildren. When asked about the secret to her longevity, Kim shared that since she was a child, she often woke up early to go to the forest with her parents. According to her, it was her hard work and "probably because she was used to eating cassava, yam and wild vegetables" that gave her such strong health. At 102 years old, one of the longest-lived people in the village, Luong Thi Kim is still respected by the villagers, not only because of her old age but above all because of her constant diligence and hard work.
