71-year-old woman hired someone to shoot her 'young lover'
Ms. Hong wanted to get back the money she invested in a man 40 years younger, so she hired a young man to "make her lie still".
Ho Chi Minh City People's Court is scheduled to try Ms. Huynh Thi Tuyet Hong (71 years old, former officer of District 10 Court) on March 7 for the crime ofIntentional injuryThe defendant faces a maximum penalty of 3 years in prison, committing the crime of "hiring to cause injury or damage to the health of others", with a disability rate of 31-60%.
In connection with the case, Le Dang Quang (26 years old) and Ho Thanh Nhan (23 years old) were prosecuted for the crime ofKilling.

According to the indictment, at the end of 2016, Ms. Hong rented a luxury apartment in Binh Thanh district to live in, then became close to Mr. Nam (30 years old). The two often traveled and ate together.
Nam often talked about his previous hotel business and wanted to return to his old job. Mrs. Hong told him to find a location and she would pay for it. By the end of 2017, the old lady gave Nam 200 million VND as a deposit to rent a location to open a hotel.
However, Nam continued to demand to open a company to run a hotel chain. Ms. Hong did not agree, so he said he would do it himself. The relationship between the two was quite tense.
Wanting to get back the money she invested in Nam, Ms. Hong told the story to her friend's son - Ho Thanh Nhan. She said "how to make him lie down to get the money back". Nhan agreed, asking Le Dang Quang to beat Nam so that Ms. Hong could lend him 1 billion VND.
A while later, seeing Nam come to find her and continue to ask to go on a trip, Mrs. Hong angrily called Nhan to "carry out the plan".
On the evening of March 14, 2018, at Nhan's request, Quang followed Nam home with a gun in Tan Phu district. When he reached the door, Quang fired two shots into the air and then three shots into the victim's body. Nam was taken to the emergency room by his family, survived but suffered 36% injuries.
Nhan then borrowed 100 million VND from Mrs. Hong but only got 30 million. The next day, he continued to ask the old woman for 1 billion VND but was refused.
During the investigation, the police arrested Quang. Nhan later turned himself in and revealed Ms. Hong.
Mr. Nam requested compensation of 810 million VND including: treatment costs, loss of income and mental damage. Ms. Hong compensated him 300 million VND.
