90-year-old woman has 44 grandchildren, 99 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

British grandmother Jessie Smith has her own family tree to keep track of her growing number of grandchildren.

Jessie Smith is the oldest woman in the UK with 12 children, 44 grandchildren, 99 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Jessie's youngest grandchild is only 2.5 months old and her oldest grandchild is 52-year-old Sharon.

Jessie has lived in East London all her life. She said: "I always joke that we have so many grandchildren. It's amazing to think that I have the most grandchildren in the UK."

Jessie was born in Canning Town in 1927 and met her late husband Arthur when she was 17 at the Plaistow textile factory where they both worked. The couple had their first child, a daughter, in 1945.

"She was the one person the whole family looked up to. She was a great grandmother," said Jessie's granddaughter Katy Preshaw, 34. Despite having suffered a stroke and having hearing problems, Jessie still lives alone in Dageham, where she recently celebrated her 90th birthday.

With such a huge family, Jessie couldn't buy Christmas presents for each grandchild, but she always had a present every time a child was born.
