(Baonghean) - Over the years, the application and transfer of science and technology have been widely implemented in the fields of agriculture and rural areas, achieving significant results and contributing to the socio-economic development of the province. Particularly noteworthy is the application of scientific and technical advancements in seed production, testing and introduction of new plant and animal breeds, and integrated agricultural and forestry production models. Many research findings have been effectively applied to the production lives of farmers.

The transfer of scientific and technological advancements into production is receiving increasing attention and is being promoted, clearly demonstrated in each specific field. Regarding production structure, many successful models for crop restructuring have been developed, including the high-income field model in Nghi Loc district. After implementation, it has become a model for crop restructuring, aiming to build high-economic-value fields throughout the province. Another example is the model of replacing sesame with the DX14 mung bean variety on land previously used for spring peanut cultivation, showing that this variety is suitable for the soil, resistant to pests and diseases, and yields higher productivity than local mung bean varieties. In addition to replicating effective models, the crop production sector is also implementing advanced techniques in seed selection, nutrition, and crop care and protection. Many models have been tested for new vegetable varieties, and several suitable varieties for the Nghe An market have been selected, such as the creation of passion fruit, green asparagus, purple kohlrabi, and red radish.

With the transfer of scientific and technological advancements, many farmers in localities throughout the province have had access to and received training to apply these technologies to production, such as: technology for cultivating edible and medicinal mushrooms; technology for producing organic microbial fertilizers on a family scale; technology for producing disease-free citrus fruits and raw materials; post-harvest preservation of agricultural products; and environmental pollution treatment. In addition, units under the sector have delved into research and transferred scientific products into production. Among them, the Center for Application of Scientific and Technological Advances (Department of Science and Technology) has successfully produced two agricultural biological products: Compost Maker, used in the production of organic microbial fertilizers, and Biogreen, used to treat pesticide residues in agricultural soil. Currently, the center has produced tens of tons of bio-products, thousands of tons of fertilizers, and is fully equipped to train and transfer technology to households in Tan Ky, Anh Son, Thanh Chuong districts, etc. Specifically, the Biogreen bio-product has been supplied to safe vegetable farming models in the province for trial use. Evaluation results show that it has removed over 95% of pesticide residues in these production models, creating safe production areas and producing safe vegetables that protect the health of both producers and consumers.

Furthermore, the promotion of the transfer of application models aimed at developing family economies, farms, and land cultivation suitable to the customs, traditions, and culture of each locality in the province has yielded practical results. Many technical applications have contributed to increasing the cultivated area, significantly shifting the structure of crops and livestock, and increasing income for people, especially ethnic minorities. As a result, many farming households have escaped poverty and risen to become successful farmers by successfully applying scientific and technical advancements to create high-yield and high-quality livestock breeds, such as the model of raising red lac insects in Que Phong district, the model of maintaining and developing local yellow cattle and Mong cattle in Ky Son district, or the model of commercial farming of black carp in Ban Ve lake, commercial farming of snakehead fish, catfish, and tilapia...

The above results have contributed to the process of settled farming and resettlement, helping people, especially ethnic minorities, to stabilize their lives, develop their economy, and improve their education. However, it must also be acknowledged that the transfer of science and technology in our province in recent years still has limitations and shortcomings. Many of the province's strengths have not been strongly developed; the range of products is not diverse enough, and stable brands have not been created for the main agricultural products... These limitations have significantly affected the competitiveness and expansion of the market for the province's agricultural products.

To promote the application of science and technology to serve agricultural and rural development, along with the attention and guidance of Party committees, government agencies, and functional departments of the province, it is necessary to support investment in completing planning and building high-tech agricultural zones; researching and selecting new plant and animal varieties with high productivity and quality, suitable to the province's development orientation; and moving towards building advanced seed varieties and characteristic agricultural products of the province. In addition, the province needs to increase investment in science and technology activities, focusing on developing high-tech agriculture, including promoting the application of biotechnology in agricultural production; transferring scientific and technological advancements in agriculture, especially seed technology, preservation technology, and agricultural product processing technology, creating breakthroughs in productivity and product quality. Farmers should be encouraged to boldly apply technical advancements to production, ensuring that agriculture develops at a high and sustainable level. Only in this way can the process of transferring science and technology to farmers truly contribute to economic development, job creation, social security, and socio-economic development.
