Nearly 90-year-old man buys drugs and then divides them into small pieces to sell for profit

On the afternoon of November 25, the People's Court of Ky Son district opened the first instance trial of the case of "Illegal drug trafficking" according to the provisions of Clause 2, Article 251 of the Penal Code against the defendant Luong Pho Xo, born in 1932, residing in Huoi Le village, Keng Du commune, Ky Son district.The trial attracted a large audience because the defendant was a nearly 90-year-old man.

According to the indictment: Defendant Luong Pho Xo has been addicted to drugs for a long time. To have money to satisfy his addiction, this old man often visits drug dens bordering Laos to buy drugs and then divide them into small amounts to sell for profit.

Specifically, on August 2, 2019, Luong Pho Xo bought 1 bag of synthetic drugs for 1,500,000 VND, brought it home and hid it in his bedroom. At about 11:00 a.m. on August 15, 2019, when Mr. Luong Pho Xo was selling drugs to Luong Van Hung (living in the same village), he was discovered and caught red-handed by the working group of Ky Son District Police and the drugs were confiscated.

The Investigation Police Agency of Ky Son District later determined: The number of pink tablets (synthetic drugs) seized from Luong Pho Xo weighed 8 grams.

During the trial, the defendant confessed to his crime. Considering the nature of the case, the panel sentenced the defendant Xo to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
