Car window stuck on damp day, what to do?
During the wet season, car windows getting stuck makes many users "cry and laugh" when the lift and lower buttons don't work.
According to auto engineer Nguyen Trong Dat, Director of Tien Dat garage (Nguyen Xien, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi), the structure of the car's electric window includes a control motor and a lifting/lowering part with a lifting lever combined with an X-shaped lever mechanism. The phenomenon of the glass going up/down slowly when pressing the switch or flickering and then stopping is a sign that it is time to check the inside of the car's window mechanism.

In addition to the visible phenomenon, users can also judge damage through the buzzing sound emitted each time the glass control button is pressed. When the glass door emits this sound, it is possible that the motor is about to fail or the glass is stuck due to worn gears, cracked over time.
In addition, due to the frame-type window mechanism, the pulling force from the motor will have to go through the cable, so if this cable is broken or jammed by oil and dirt, it can also cause the car window to jam. Along with that, when the car is used less, parked outdoors a lot, the car window is easily jammed due to "aging" door seals, a lot of dirt or misalignment.
Although repairing and fixing the car window up and down mechanism is very quick and simple, the car owner still needs to bring it to the garage because it also involves precise installation for the window to operate smoothly.
First, after receiving the car, the mechanic will do a "quick test" by removing the old control cluster and temporarily installing a similar one that is working well, then pressing up/down.
If the window does not respond, the technician will check the fuse to diagnose the power source supplying the window up/down motor assembly. After ruling out the power source, the next step is to remove the door panel to expose the entire door frame mechanism.
Next, check the wiring for any jams. Also check to see if the wiring is in good condition, has cracks, or breaks. The door seals are not misaligned or damaged and need to be replaced.
Finally, check the door motor, if it does not work or works poorly, you should replace the motor.
Experts recommend that broken window up/down mechanism often happens with old cars or cars that have been used for a long time but have not had their windows cleaned or maintained.
Therefore, car users need to pay attention to these issues to prevent problems. When the window up and down function is broken, especially on humid days, users can temporarily fix it by using the air conditioner or the window defroster function to avoid fogging and reducing visibility.
