Cua Lo – A dazzling night festival
(Baonghean.vn) -At the start of the new tourist season, Cua Lo welcomed tens of thousands of visitors from all over the country to relax and enjoy the beach. On the night of April 30th, the people of the coastal town and tourists were immersed in a dazzling night of lights with fireworks, cultural performances, and picturesque waves, heralding a successful tourist season.
As usual, around April 30th and May 1st, the coastal town of Cua Lo inaugurates its new tourism season. This year's opening ceremony is themed "Cua Lo, the Call of the Sea," honoring traditional values and showcasing the tourism potential of Cua Lo, with its blue sea, white sand, golden sunshine, and its kind, hardworking, and hospitable people. The ceremony also serves to affirm to visitors from all over the world that Cua Lo is a vibrant and youthful tourist town, ready to welcome friends from everywhere. 2013 is designated as a pivotal year for tourism, leading up to the 20th anniversary of the town's establishment (1994-2014).

On the first day of the tourist season, Cua Lo welcomed tens of thousands of visitors who came to relax and enjoy the beach.
The opening ceremony didn't officially begin until after 8 PM, but from early afternoon, Nguyen Sinh Cung Boulevard and Binh Minh Street were already congested with people and vehicles. Authorities had to set up a pedestrian walkway around Binh Minh Square to alleviate the congestion. As the opening ceremony approached, the crowds flocking to the central square grew larger, everyone wanting to find a good spot to watch the performances and enjoy the fireworks. With cameras and phones in hand, everyone tried to capture beautiful images of this meaningful moment.
Amidst the crowds flocking to Sunrise Square, we encountered a group of young Laotians. They came from the capital Vientiane, spoke broken Vietnamese, and shared that every year, around April 30th, their families travel to Vietnam to visit Cua Lo beach. “Laos doesn’t have a coastline; I’ve been to many beaches in Thailand and Vietnam, but Cua Lo is always the most special. It’s because of my love for Cua Lo that I enrolled in the Nghe An Teacher Training College. Many of my friends have also been to Cua Lo, and everyone wants to return,” a young man named Keo said with a smile. As the official opening ceremony began, this group of young people also tried to squeeze into the square, their eyes fixed on the stage, intently watching the program.

Tens of thousands of people crowded into the venue for the opening night of the Cua Lo beach tourism season.
Opening the Cua Lo Tourism Opening Ceremony 2013, Comrade Le Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Town Party Committee and Chairman of the Town People's Committee, recalled the long history of Cua Lo from the time when Grand Tutor Cuong Quoc Cong Nguyen Xi founded villages in the 15th century, and then his eldest son, Grand Marshal and Duke Nguyen Su Hoi, gathered people to establish a settlement, creating Van Loc village. Thanks to their diligence, frugality, and hard work, the people here have transformed this land, once known as a "sand and gravel alluvial plain." In 1907, the French chose Cua Lo as a resort and beach destination. In 1994, the Government allowed the establishment of Cua Lo as a tourist town. Today, this land of outstanding people and rich revolutionary and cultural traditions is gradually transforming, becoming one of the leading coastal tourist cities in the country.

In the 2012 tourism year, despite the economic downturn, Cua Lo still attracted nearly 2 million visitors, generating 1,120 billion VND in revenue from tourism activities, an increase of nearly 18% compared to 2011. Cua Lo was honored to be chosen as the venue for many successful international diplomatic activities with ASEAN countries. Building on that success, in 2013, the coastal town is determined to create a breakthrough in tourism to increase the number of visitors and their length of stay, boost revenue, and ensure that Cua Lo's tourism environment is truly green, clean, beautiful, prosperous, civilized, friendly, and hospitable. It is projected that this year's tourism season will see Cua Lo welcome over 2 million visitors for relaxation and beach activities, with revenue exceeding that of the previous year.
Immediately after the opening drumbeat of the new tourism season by Comrade Ho Duc Phoc, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, tens of thousands of tourists enjoyed the "Cua Lo - The Call of the Sea" cultural program with spectacular performances by leading artists. The dazzling evening of performances recreated the history of Cua Lo and the town's progress, showcasing the traditional values and tourism potential of this land of outstanding people and rich history.

The opening night was dazzling with colors, heralding a successful new tourism season.
The opening night concluded with a spectacular fireworks display lasting over 15 minutes, transforming the Cua Lo beach into a city of magical colors. This year's fireworks display was more elaborately staged, recreating the image of a dynamic, friendly, and hospitable Cua Lo with legends such as Lan Chau Island, Ngu Island, and Mat Island, evoking the names of villages, mountains, rivers, and unique, mysterious tourist destinations of this sacred land, heralding a brilliantly successful tourism season.
