Cuba does not name monuments or streets after Fidel Castro

Fulfilling the will of leader Fidel Castro, Cuba will not name any monuments, parks, or streets in the island nation after Fidel Castro.

Current Cuban President Raul Castro announced at the memorial service for leader Fidel Castro on the night of December 3 (Cuba time) that the country will issue a law banning permanent worship.

The 85-year-old leader - Fidel Castro's younger brother, said: "There will be no monument, full-body or bust statue of Fidel, no street, no park named after him, because that is what he wanted: no cult of personality."

President Raul emphasized: “The Leader of the Revolution (meaning Fidel) opposes any manifestation of evil.”cult of personality, and was consistent with this until the last hours of his life. Comrade Fidel firmly affirmed that once he was gone, his name and the like would never be used to name offices, streets, parks or public places.”

Mr. Raul added that the law on this will be submitted to the Cuban National Assembly for consideration during its session this month.

In his autobiography, leader Fidel Castro once said: "All those who lead this country are human beings, not saints"./.
