During the most difficult years when Vietnam fought for national liberation and reunification, the Party, State and people of Cuba gave Vietnam invaluable support in spirit, wealth and material.

Leader Fidel, with his immortal words “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood” and was also the first and only foreign leader, despite the danger of war, to visit and raise the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam in the liberated area of Quang Tri in 1973. This has great significance, demonstrating Cuba's kinship, willingness to sacrifice and share with its Vietnamese comrades and brothers.
