Emulation Cluster No. 5 - Nghe An Provincial Youth Union and Dong Nai Provincial Agencies' Bloc visited and presented gifts to officers and soldiers at Mat Island
(Baonghean.vn) - On March 31, Emulation Cluster No. 5 - Nghe An Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the Youth Union of Dong Nai Provincial Agencies to organize a program to visit and give gifts to soldiers working at Mat Island, Nghe An.
The activity is held during Youth Month 2024, in a series of activities towards the homeland's sea and islands, responding to the Campaign of Pride of a strip of rivers. At the same time, this is also a practical activity towards the 55th anniversary of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's Testament.
Joining the delegation was comrade Bui Quang Huy.-Secretary of the Party Committee of the Agencies of Dong Nai province and comrade Hoang Van Nhien - Standing Deputy Secretary, in charge of the Party Committee of the Agencies of Nghe An province. On this occasion, Emulation Cluster No. 5 - Nghe An Provincial Youth Union (including units: Provincial Police Youth Union, Agencies' Youth Union, Provincial Enterprises' Youth Union, Military Command, Provincial Border Guard) and Dong Nai Province Agencies' Youth Union presented officers and soldiers of the Mat Island 2 Mixed Battalion with a map of Vietnam, along with many other meaningful gifts with a total value of 33 million VND.
Pleased to welcome the delegation from the mainland, Major Tran Anh Hung - Party Secretary, Political Commissar of the Mat Island Mixed Battalion thanked the sincere feelings of the delegates in the delegation, especially the young union members, for the officers and soldiers of the battalion. The visit was even more meaningful as it took place on the 61st anniversary of the founding of Mat Island (March 31, 1963 - March 31, 2024).
Informing the delegates of the working group about some basic features of the geographical features and strategic importance of Mat Island, Major Tran Anh Hung said that from the initial simple facilities, with only a few camps, the unit has now built a barracks in the middle of the ocean. On the island, there are concrete roads spread evenly along the patrol and protection corridor. The command house, the soldiers' houses, and the warehouses have all been built spaciously. The unit has a soccer field, volleyball court for physical training and sports activities, and has built many water tanks for the soldiers' meals and daily activities.
Mat Island has an extremely important strategic position in terms of national defense, security and economy, not only of Nghe An but also of the North Central region. Over 61 years of construction, fighting and growing up, the officers and soldiers of the unit have always promoted the revolutionary tradition of the heroic Soviet homeland, highly promoted the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, both training for combat readiness and building the unit. Every year, the unit has excellently completed all assigned tasks and has been awarded many noble titles.
