At least 43 warships and submarines, along with 41 aircraft, took part in the Russian Navy Day parade, demonstrating the power of this Russian force with a mission to ensure peace.
Established in 1696, under the reign of Tsar Peter 1, the Russian Navy is now an armed force under the Russian Army, consisting of 5 strategic units: the Baltic Fleet, the North Pacific Fleet, the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Fleet.
History records Russian naval soldiers who fought in the most difficult and brutal moments, always ready to sacrifice their lives for the Fatherland.
Today, the Russian Navy is at the forefront of adapting and developing new defense technologies, while ensuring the country's defense capabilities, repelling any acts of aggression.
President Vladimir Putin stressed that the Russian Navy is confident in ensuring the country's security and interests and can adequately retaliate against any aggressor.
Continuing the glorious tradition and not “resting on its laurels”, President Putin declared that the Russian Navy will go further, building a “unique” fleet with strong sovereign power, anticipating a long-term historical perspective.
In 2019, the Russian Navy will purchase 15 new ships and gunboats, upgrade its coast guard, as well as infrastructure for bases.
Since President Putin became leader, the Russian military has gradually restored its potential, marking its return with modernization efforts and military intervention campaigns abroad.
Regarding the navy, in 2017, President Putin signed the decree “Basic State Strategies for Naval Development Until 2030”.
According to the decree, Russia has been working to strengthen its Navy, with the goal of becoming the second in the world in terms of combat capabilities. The Russian Navy's power will be enhanced with many new warships and submarines equipped with advanced weapons such as cruise missiles, as well as prioritizing the construction of modern aircraft carriers.
