The archery qualifying round has officially taken place before the opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics. And here, Korean archer - Kim Woo-jin set a new world record.
After 72 shots, the 24-year-old athlete won 700 points, 1 point more than the old world record of compatriot Im Dong-Hyun (699), set in London 4 years ago.
“This is just the group stage so I don’t feel too happy. Setting a new world record is important but the results in the next matches are more important. I will stay focused for tomorrow’s competition,” Kim Woo-jin said after setting a new world record.
Kim Woo-jin has won two world gold medals in archery, but this is his first time participating in the Olympics, so this archer's goal is the gold medal.
