Nearly 10 hours after his death, the young man's family informed the hospital of their wish to preserve their son's sperm.

On January 7, Dr. Nguyen Khac Loi, Director of the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital, said that on the night of January 5 and the early morning of January 6, the hospital's doctors raced against time to save the sperm of a 28-year-old man who had passed away.

This young man, the only son in the family, unfortunately passed away at 3:00 p.m. on January 5. Grieving, the family wanted to preserve their son's sperm so that they could find a way to have someone else carry the child's pregnancy in the future. However, it was not until 11:30 p.m. that the family contacted the hospital for help.

Because the family informed him late, Dr. Ho Van Thang and his colleagues quickly went to the Hanoi Forensic Center to perform the sperm extraction procedure. After 2 hours of the procedure, the young man's sperm was carefully extracted in 10 cups.

According to Dr. Loi, it is usually almost impossible or very difficult to retrieve sperm after 3 hours of death. In this case, it is much more difficult because the young man died nearly 10 hours ago, and the quality of sperm gradually decreases over time, making storage more complicated.

Therefore, the successful sperm retrieval for this rare case can be called a miracle, opening up much hope for those who have passed away many hours ago.

Previously, on December 14, Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital also collected sperm from a young man who died in a traffic accident.
