"If no one feels the need to extend START-3 (or New START), we will withdraw from the agreement," President Putin said at the Saint Petersburg economic forum, according to AFP.

On June 6, the African Union (AU) voted to suspend Sudan from all activities of the bloc until a civilian government is formed. The AU Peace and Security Council made the announcement after a meeting at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The decision comes after increased violence this week between Transitional Military Council (TMC) forces and protest groups demanding a transfer of the country's leadership.

On the same day, June 6, the Sudanese Ministry of Health confirmed that the number of people killed in violence against protesters was less than 100 as reported by protest groups and did not exceed 46 people.

Previously, protest groups accused the TMC of using violence to disperse a sit-in outside the Ministry of Defense headquarters on June 3, but the TMC denied the accusation.
