These sayings have no special content, but they changed the fate of many people, including Vu Ngoc Dang, Hoai Linh and Truong Giang.

"Dang, don't be an actor anymore"

With Suddenly Want to Cry, Beautiful Every Centimeter... director Vu Ngoc Dang has brought a new, youthful and very "Korean" breeze to Vietnamese cinema. His films always receive a lot of love from the audience.

But not everyone knows that when he was still in school, this talented director also dreamed of becoming a famous actor. He was in the same class as comedian Viet Huong.

However, his acting made his teacher, director Nguyen Cong Ninh, shout: "Dang, stop being an actor." Being shouted at by his teacher, Vu Ngoc Dang felt both confused and hurt.

He turned to Viet Huong and scratched his head: "The teacher told me not to act. I came here to learn acting and now the teacher tells me not to act anymore, what am I going to do now?" Not knowing what to say to her friend, Viet Huong just shook her head in silence.

After that, Vu Ngoc Dang bought a camera. He went around the class, taking pictures of everyone to learn the camera angle and then moved on to directing. Thanks to that scolding, the entertainment industry now has the director Vu Ngoc Dang of today.

"Hey Trizzie, introduce your brother to perform for fun."

Before coming to America with his family, because he had nothing to do, Hoai Linh also followed this group or that to sing in a few places, but his dream of a professional career path was still not very clear.

In the land of the stars and stripes, the family lived in Florida, but because of curiosity about music centers and wanting to meet his idol, Hoai Linh asked his mother to let him go to California with his aunt's family.

At first, no one knew what to do, so he stayed home every day to water the plants, cook for his younger siblings, and watch martial arts movies. Seeing that his son was playing around, his mother called him to come home, but Hoai Linh refused.

He asked his mother to let him stay in California for exactly three months. If after those three months he didn't make any progress, he would return.

During those free days, he received a phone call from show producer Son Tung, who introduced Hoai Linh to sing at a wedding in Florida. Son Tung invited him to the birthday party of Trizzie Phuong Trinh, Bang Kieu's ex-wife, and Hoai Linh agreed.

Arriving at the Pink Night nightclub, he was completely overwhelmed. There were many famous overseas artists that Hoai Linh had only seen on tapes and CDs.

Yet when show producer Son Tung told Trizzie Phuong Trinh: "Hey Trizzie, introduce your younger brother to perform for fun" and received a nod, Hoai Linh didn't hesitate to go on stage right away.

Already drunk, he was very excited. At that time, Hoai Linh only thought: "It's all or nothing. Either stay in Cali to work or go home. Everything will be decided tonight."

Then, Hoai Linh put all his energy into it at once. He imitated voices from old to young, female to male, from South to North, Hoai Linh "did" it all.

When he finished, he walked down to the thunderous applause of everyone. That was also the first time Hoai Linh met Van Son and later, the two had the opportunity to perform together on stage.

Although after that fateful night, Hoai Linh's artistic path still had many obstacles, that was the time that helped him gain the determination to do his job with all his heart.

Unable to bear the life of playing for nothing anymore, Hoai Linh moved out of his aunt's house, rented a room for himself, and sang here and there to earn money to stay in California, starting a professional career.

"Must be famous"

Truong Giang's life from childhood to adulthood was a series of miserable days. When he went to Saigon, his friends lured him into dreaming of becoming an actor, but he was too poor and had no money to pay for school, so he was expelled repeatedly.

Not only that, Truong Giang was also commented by his teacher as a person with no talent, small appearance, and a very local accent. He felt very hurt, tears fell on his pillow countless nights.

But his passion for the profession made him stubbornly continue. Those were the days when Truong Giang had to endure being rejected and despised by the show organizers. Even though he had to eat instant noodles to get by, every month when the rent was due, he had to run around everywhere.

The pride of a 30 year old man made him feel so humiliated. Not knowing what to do, he had no choice but to force himself to try harder.

The most precious thing in the house is the refrigerator. He took a piece of paper and wrote three words: "Must be famous" in large letters and then solemnly stuck them on it. This is the saying that helps Truong Giang regain his determination every time he stumbles and strives his best every time he leaves the house to pursue his passion.

Later, when he became famous, he met Dam Vinh Hung several times and was asked: "Are the words on the refrigerator still there?". Only then can we see how much that simple sentence affected the career of "Muoi Kho".
