Michael Jackson's three children's lives eight years after their father's death

Paris started her career in showbiz, Prince opened his own music company while Blanket was a good student at school.

Michael Jackson died suddenly on June 25, 2009, leaving behind three young children and an unfinished music career. Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson were then aged 12, 11 and 7 respectively.

Eight years later, the lives of the three children of the "King of Pop" have taken a completely different turn. Previously, Prince, Paris and Blanket were protected, shielded and hidden by their father whenever they appeared in the media. Now, all three are gradually returning to a normal, free life but lacking their father's affection.

Prince Jackson is 20 years old and has his own company.

From a bewildered teenage boy at his father's funeral, Prince Jackson has now grown up and become a pillar of support for his two younger siblings. Michael Jackson's eldest son is now 20 years old, not seeking the limelight on stage like his father but choosing to stay behind the scenes. Prince Jackson studied at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and founded his own company called King's Son Productions - named after Michael Jackson's nickname "King of Pop".

"My dad was called the 'King of Pop' because of hard work, years of training and overcoming hardships and difficulties," Prince Jackson told Good Morning America in March. "I'm the son of a king and I have to work hard to earn my own nickname."

The late star's 20-year-old son said that no matter how big Michael's name was in the eyes of everyone, to his three children he was still just the beloved father they lost.

Prince Jackson and his siblings continue on their long journey, taking their father's advice with them. "When we were growing up, my dad always said, 'I don't care what you do in life, as long as you have fun doing it and you try your best. If you want to be a high school custodian, you have to be the best custodian you can be.' So my brothers and I believe that he always supports our efforts," said Prince Jackson.

Paris Jackson pursues a modeling career.

Michael Jackson's only daughter, Paris, seems to have been the one most affected by her father's death and has changed the most in the eight years since. Throughout her teenage years, Paris Jackson struggled with depression and low self-esteem. She attempted suicide by cutting herself at the age of 14 and had to undergo psychiatric treatment.

In 2016, Paris Jackson explained on her personal page the reason for her suicide: "When I was 14, there were so many people hating me that I decided to commit suicide. After that, I didn't use social media for two years. Then people told me to come back and I did, but everything was the same. I don't understand why people have so much hatred."

Paris had a rebellious personal life after that. She smoked, hung out with friends, cut her hair, got tattoos... Paris Jackson also had a tense relationship with her mother - Mrs. Debbie Rowe. She only met her mother when she heard that she had breast cancer.

Over the past year, Paris Jackson has found her direction in life. Paris broke up with her boyfriend to focus on entering showbiz. She signed a contract with the management company Stiefel Entertainment and had a guest role in the film Star directed by Lee Daniels. Paris Jackson also tried her hand at modeling.

"I have many noble goals to pursue, to devote myself to and to fight for people. I feel it is my duty. Right now, I am focusing on the fashion industry and want to do my best," the 19-year-old girl confided in an interview with Vogue magazine on June 19.

Blanket Jackson is in 9th grade.

Blanket Jackson, the youngest son of the "King of Pop", is always the quietest in the family. The 15-year-old boy is in 9th grade, at the private school named Buckley in Sherman Oaks, USA. According to TMZ, Paris Jackson is always worried about him when Blanket has to live alone in his grandmother's house - Katherine - in Calabasas. Paris moved out of her grandmother's house in 2016 and is busy with her work in showbiz. Prince is also studying at university and managing his own company. Mrs. Katherine has been living mainly in London, England recently when her daughter - Janet Jackson - just gave birth and divorced her husband. Blanket therefore has to live in loneliness, lacking the love of her family.

However, according to TMZ, despite the upheavals in his life, Blanket was a good student at school and active in social interactions.
