The surprisingly simple life of comedian Hoai Linh

With over 20 years of acting experience and being a beloved star, Hoai Linh always exudes a simple and approachable aura. Backstage or even on the red carpet, he is always loyal to his Ao Ba Ba and Lao sandals. At events, the comedian always looks for the quietest seat.

Talking about his current life, Hoai Linh said that over the past 20 years, all of his habits seem to have not changed. The comedian still likes to eat rice with braised fish, never drinks, and does not hang out after shows. "If there is a party, I would rather do it at home than go out to a restaurant. I don't feel like I fit in at a luxurious, flashy place," he emphasized.

Over the past two years, the male comedian has limited his participation in game shows and rarely attended events. Before that, he covered programs on HTV, THVL, and VTV3. Hoai Linh shared about his change in job: "Now that the temple is finished, I don't need to rush into making money like before. I'm not young anymore, so I let the kids have the opportunity to do the program. I'm more selective about shows than before, only participating in meaningful and humane programs."

Talking about Hoai Linh's life behind the stage lights and the halo of acting, he smiled and said: "I'm very simple, to others it might be boring. Every day, my joy is watering plants and picking weeds at the temple."

Thinking back over 20 years in the profession, Hoai Linh believes that the luckiest thing for him is to be loved by the audience. He was once nicknamed "national star" by fans. However, talking about this, he remains humble: "I don't pray for everyone to love me because I can't please everyone."

With that in mind, he remains calm in the face of compliments and criticisms. Even when receiving mixed opinions for his appearances on game shows, Hoai Linh is not confused.

“I decided that I had to earn money to build a temple, so I was determined to do it. I didn’t care what anyone said. There’s nothing wrong with me building a temple. Everyone has different beliefs and goals in life,” he said.

When asked how fans rate Hoai Linh's humility, he admitted that he understands himself and knows his strengths and weaknesses.

Hoai Linh said that picking grass and watering plants are his daily joys.

Regarding his relationship with his adopted son Hoai Lam, Hoai Linh refused to share. Recently, the news that Hoai Lam returned to perform in the male comedian's live show after announcing his retirement from singing caught the audience's attention. Many opinions said that the 2014 Familiar Faces champion returned because of his adoptive father, but Hoai Linh denied: "I did not mention Hoai Lam. Cat Phuong's invitation is her business, I did not participate."
