Kim Han Sol, the nephew of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has grown increasingly frustrated with his life in hiding and has taken up the habit of drinking during the day, South Korean media reported.

Kim Han Sol, 21, along with his mother Ri Hye Kyong and younger sister Kim Sol Hui, 19, have been hiding in a secret location since their father, Kim Jong Nam, was allegedly assassinated at Kuala Lumpur airport in Malaysia in February.

Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, was poisoned with VX nerve agent while waiting for a flight to Macau, Malaysian officials say.

According to multiple sources, Kim Han Sol is currently being protected “like in a cage” at his mother’s house. This keeps Han Sol safe but also makes him depressed, TV Chosun, a South Korean media outlet, reported.

"Han Sol told people around him that he was happy that his family was safe, but the protection program was very stifling. He often drank during the day while constantly talking about having more freedom in Macau."

Kim Han Sol, his mother and younger sister were believed to be in Macau at the time of the assassination of their father, Kim Jong Nam, in Malaysia. Han Sol was working at a hotel near their home. The entire Kim Jong Nam family has lived in exile there since 2001.

The trio's whereabouts are unknown, although the governments of the Netherlands, China, the United States and a fourth unnamed country have offered to help them, the Cheollima Civil Defense Organization said.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that Kim Han Sol could be the target of an attack, citing Cheollima.
