Life after retirement of Wushu golden girl Thuy Hien

In 1993, Nguyen Thuy Hien brought home the first Gold Medal at the World Wushu Championship for Vietnam when she was only 14 years old and had only been familiar with Wushu for less than a year. Behind the scenes of the filming of "Take Off", Thuy Hien said: "I remember that year when I went up to the podium to receive the Gold Medal, there was no National Anthem because everyone was surprised and unprepared. So the teacher and students together looked at the National Flag raised to the highest position, singing the National Anthem without music. Thinking back, that moment was extremely emotional."

From then until her retirement in 2005, Thuy Hien stood on the highest podium many times, received many Gold Medals, and became a wushu legend, but she said that she always remembered that first moment, the moment of singing the National Anthem without accompaniment, which created a huge impression on the 14-year-old girl.

Sharing about the present, Thuy Hien said: "I am participating in the project called "Proud of Vietnam" as the main singer of the song "Road to Glory" and martial arts performances. The project demonstrates the martial spirit, love of peace and solidarity of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam, and warmly welcomes 11 sports delegations to participate in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam, as well as introduces the beautiful landscape of Vietnam and the spirit of the Vietnamese people with the martial spirit, cheering for the athletes participating in the 31st SEA Games to give their all for the flag and colors."

Thuy Hien is participating in a project called "Proud of Vietnam" as the main singer of the song "Road to Glory" and martial arts performances.

"I still contribute to the country's sports as a coach. My students will also compete in this SEA Games. I want to tell them: Focus completely on your performance, and show your best ability in the exam."

Despite achieving many glories in her career, Thuy Hien's personal life has experienced many ups and downs: "Born into a family where my parents separated when I was young, I always thought I would try to have a happy family. But in the end I couldn't do it" - she confided.

Although she has achieved many glories in her career, Thuy Hien's personal life has gone through many ups and downs.

In 2001, after returning from training in China, Thuy Hien met musician Anh Tu (Watermelon band) and quickly fell in love at first sight and got married.

Considered the most famous couple at that time, Thuy Hien's marriage only lasted nearly 5 years. "The life between an artist and an athlete has too many differences. My personality is decisive, I waited and gave him some time to change. However, the day, the month, everything was still the same, I decided to say goodbye. Anh Tu was very surprised. He didn't think I would be so quick and determined."

After breaking up with musician Anh Tu, Thuy Hien fell into a crisis for a while, she avoided contact with the press and almost did not appear in the media: "I was afraid that if I met them, when they asked me about my personal life, I would not know how to answer. At the time of divorce, I was still young, had little conflict and felt that the separation of husband and wife was something terrible and heavy. After going through it, I found it normal. The children are still our children, the parents care and share together".

In 2019, Thuy Hien decided to get married for the second time with a childhood friend. However, this marriage did not last a lifetime. "When we were friends, we loved and respected each other very much, but when we got married, everything was the opposite. The conflict came from very small and simple things. Because we were not happy together, I quickly agreed to go back to being friends, just like the original position."

At the age of 43, Thuy Hien is still young and beautiful. She devotes a lot of love and care to her children: "Since the age of 1-2, my children have been used to living with only their mother, so there is nothing difficult. My children and I are like friends, sharing all the problems in life. When I have time, my father still comes to my house to take the children out."

She is now a coach and spends more time with her children.

Recently, the former Wushu athlete also found joy in singing: "Before, I didn't dare to sing because when I was living with a musician, every time I sang, he would tell me: "What kind of singing are you doing?". Standing in front of a professional, I lost confidence so I didn't dare to sing much. Recently, during a company meeting a few months ago, I boldly tried to sing a song and was praised by my colleagues. Because of that, I was motivated and wanted to do something new."
