MC and journalist Lai Van Sam officially retired from VTV on July 1, 2017, after about 30 years of service. At that time, many fans expressed regret for his absence from some familiar TV shows, especially the game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”.

Lai Van Sam was born on June 10, 1957 in Phu Tho. At the end of 1987, he went to work at Vietnam Television as a translator for Soviet sports news into Vietnamese and switched to producing the SV96 program in 1995, which was also the first success that brought his name closer to the audience.

When VTV3 became the most popular television channel in Vietnam, journalist Lai Van Sam was appointed by the leadership of Vietnam Television to hold the position of Head of Sports - Entertainment and Economic Information Department.
