Conversation between Minister of Information and Communications and female Ambassador about U23 Vietnam

This afternoon, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan had a meeting with Ms. Lianys Torres Rivera - Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Minister Truong Minh Tuan congratulated Ms. Lianys Torres Rivera on being trusted by the Cuban State leaders and assigned a new task - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam.

The Minister expressed his hope that the Ambassador will be a reliable bridge between the Parties and people of the two countries, deepening the cooperative relationship between the two countries.

According to the Minister, Cuba has a good traditional friendship and solidarity with Vietnam, with many similarities stemming from the history of the struggle for national liberation. The Vietnamese people always acknowledge and are grateful for the sentiments that the Cuban people have given to Vietnam.

In the field of post and telecommunications, the two countries have a long tradition of cooperation not only in favorable times but also in the most difficult times. The Ministry of Information and Communications hopes that the two sides will continue to strengthen this cooperation.

Specifically, the Ministry of Information and Communications wishes to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cuban Ministry of Communications on cooperation in the field of communications between the two countries, emphasizing cooperation in post, telecommunications and IT during the visit and work of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to Cuba scheduled for next April.

Minister Truong Minh Tuan said that Vietnam is developing a project to enhance cooperation in information and communications between Vietnam and Latin American countries, so he proposed that Cuba be a bridge for Vietnam in promoting cooperation with countries in the Latin American region. In return, Vietnam will help Cuba promote cooperation with countries in the ASEAN region.

According to the Minister, the Ministry of Information and Communications is ready to cooperate with Cuba on information security, especially in training human resources, exchanging policies and experiences in protecting important government information systems, sharing information and developments on cyber attacks that are happening every day and every hour around the world to promptly detect, warn and prevent them.

Minister Truong Minh Tuan said that Vietnam has many telecommunications enterprises that have reached international standards, with network potential in terms of capital and technology such as VNPT, Viettel... The Ministry of Information and Communications hopes that the Cuban side will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese IT-TT enterprises to invest in Cuba.

The Minister also hoped that the two countries would continue to strengthen cooperation in journalism, radio and television. The two sides will maintain the exchange of reporters to promote the image of the country, its people and its achievements in economic and social development to enhance understanding between the two countries.

Affirming that publishing is a field in which the two sides have had long-standing cooperation, the Minister suggested that the two sides continue to strengthen cooperation, maintain information exchange on publishing, and participate in annual book fairs and exhibitions in each country.

Minister Truong Minh Tuan expressed his hope that the Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam will pay attention and promote the development and increasingly close cooperation between the two countries.

Strengthening Cuba - Vietnam cooperation

Cuban Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera shared that although she is in Vietnam, she feels like she is at home.

She expressed hope that the two sides will be able to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications and the Cuban Ministry of Communications during the General Secretary's upcoming visit.

In particular, the Cuban Ambassador also congratulated the Vietnam U23 team for their great achievements in the recent U23 Asian tournament. She shared that she watched the final match and felt sorry that Vietnam only won 2nd place but also felt happy to be ranked 2nd in Asia. At the same time, she also felt the affection of the Vietnamese people for the team when the players returned home and this was also reported a lot by the Cuban press.

Thanking the Ambassador for sharing, Minister Truong Minh Tuan said that this morning, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc gave him and the Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs the ball and shirt donated by the Vietnam U23 team to auction, raising money to support the poor during Tet.
