Le Quang Tuong (47 years old, in Tan Hiep district) has just been arrested by Kien Giang Provincial Police after 27 years of escaping from prison while on the run from a wanted warrant.
According to the records, on May 25, 1990, Tuong invited his friend to bring weapons to An Giang to find someone to rob. The two hired a motorbike taxi to take them to a deserted road in Thoai Son town, where they controlled and robbed the motorbike.
The victim resisted, but Tuong stabbed and cut his neck. Despite being injured, the motorbike taxi driver tried to increase the speed, knocking both robbers out onto the road and went to the construction site to report the incident. The two robbers were arrested shortly afterwards.
Sentenced to life in prison for murder and robbery, Tuong later escaped from prison to Ho Chi Minh City, changing his name to hide.
In early 2001, Tuong returned to Kien Giang to live in Tan Hiep B commune, Tan Hiep district, because he thought the law had "forgotten" him.
