National Cup: Heat and incidents

(Baonghean.vn) - This year's National Cup Round of 16 became more memorable, not because of the high professional quality but because of the quite special incidents on the field.

Professional mark

Except for Long An, who proactively gave up the National Cup to worry about relegation, in the remaining 7 matches, all teams put young players on the field and played in a "go for it" style.

There were 3 matches that had to be decided on penalty kicks and fate was not on the side of the home teams Hanoi and S.Khanh Hoa. Only the away team HAGL could not win against the home team Saigon FC when Mobi Ferh and Minh Vuong of HAGL did not fulfill their duties.

After the afternoon match on June 4, the 2017 National Cup has determined the 4 Quarter-final matches. Accordingly, Than Quang Ninh will meet SHB Da Nang, Saigon FC will meet B.Binh Duong, while SLNA will meet Ho Chi Minh City and finally the confrontation between XSKT Can Tho and Quang Nam. The first leg matches of the 2017 National Cup Quarter-finals will take place on June 16 while the second leg matches will take place on June 20.

Records and rare stories

In the match where HAGL played away at Thong Nhat Stadium against Saigon FC, Minh Vuong came on to replace midfielder Nguyen Tuan Anh. In the 9th second, midfielder Minh Vuong scored, the fastest goal in the history of Vietnamese football for a substitute player.

Minh Vuong's goal leveled the score 1-1 for HAGL, however, the mountain town team later lost 3-4 on penalties and said goodbye to the 2017 National Cup. It is worth mentioning that Minh Vuong was one of the two people who missed the penalty.

At Hoa Xuan Stadium, when striker Duc Chinh suffered a serious injury in a collision with striker Uche of FLC Thanh Hoa. SHB Da Nang's 5-1 victory over FLC Thanh Hoa in the National Cup was therefore much less joyful.

According to the initial conclusion, the SHB Da Nang Club striker suffered a fractured rib. At Tam Ky Stadium, center-back Thiago received a full "cannon shot" from imported player Le Van Phu of the visiting team Hai Phong. This situation happened in the 66th minute of the match, after an attack and a good cross from Hai Phong players, a Quang Nam defender headed the ball to Van Phu's feet.

The rather unusual thing is that it was not the player but the assistant referee who suffered a muscle strain. With no other choice, the Organizing Committee had to replace him with the fourth referee, Mr. Ngo Manh Cuong. This was truly a rare incident in the National Cup.

After the success in Korea, Bui Tien Dung, the number 1 goalkeeper of U20 Vietnam, was given the opportunity to start for the first time in FLC Thanh Hoa's shirt. Ironically, this was also a sad memory when he had to pick the ball out of the net 5 times in the 1-5 loss to SHB Da Nang.

In many situations, Tien Dung did not enter or exit properly, punching the ball indecisively, causing the FLC Thanh Hoa goal to waver. Obviously, from the U20 World Cup to the National Cup and moving on to the Asian Cup qualifiers in Ho Chi Minh City are big challenges for this young player from Thanh Hoa.
