Rescued 6 fishermen from Nghe An and Quang Binh whose boat sank in the West Hoang Sa
(Baonghean.vn) - When the ship sank, there were 5 crew members from Nghe An and 1 person from Quang Binh, who were luckily saved.
On the morning of August 12, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center said that the SAR 412 ship promptly rescued and brought 5 crew members from Nghe An and 1 captain from Quang Binh whose ship sank in the western area of Hoang Sa archipelago to shore safely.
Previously, at 1:00 a.m. on August 11, 5 fishermen from Nghe An were working on the QB 92838 TS boat owned and captained by Pham Xuan Tung (38 years old, residing in Duc Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province). While fishing in the waters west of Hoang Sa archipelago at position 16026'N 109048'E, the boat was suddenly flooded with water, causing the engine room to be inoperable.

Mr. Tung contacted the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Vietnam Maritime Administration) for help. Because the QB 92838 TS ship was in distress far away, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center immediately issued an urgent maritime announcement, calling on ships in the area to come to the aid of the ship in distress. At the same time, the crew of QB 92838 TS was instructed on safety measures to respond to the situation...
The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center has dispatched ship SAR 412 to urgently leave the port to rescue the crew of ship QB 92838 TS.

By 12 noon on August 11, when the SAR 412 ship had not yet arrived, the QB 92838 TS ship had sunk at sea. Five fishermen from Nghe An and Mr. Tung got on a basket boat and rowed according to the Center's safety instructions.
By 2:25 p.m. on August 11, SAR 412 had reached the scene, coordinating with KN 366 of Navy Region III to search for the coracle carrying 6 people adrift at sea. Later, 6 people were discovered and brought onto SAR 412 in a state of poor health, panic and were given medical care and psychological support by doctors.
