Saving a drowning friend, all 5 students died

Seeing two friends slipping into deep water while bathing, three students rushed to save them. All five victims later drowned.

According to initial information, at around 4:00 p.m. on July 4, a group of 5 students including Pham Hong Ngát, Nguyen Van Thanh, Nguyen Van Minh, Nguyen Thi Tuoi and Pham Thi Oanh (all born in 2004) went to herd buffalo in Dong Quan area, Hung Dao village, Dong Lo commune, Hiep Hoa, Bac Giang.

Because it was hot, Thanh and Minh went down to the nearby pond to bathe. In a moment of carelessness, they both slipped into deep water.

Seeing this, the remaining children on the shore jumped in to save them, however, all three later drowned. The incident resulted in the death of all five children, all students of Dong Lo Secondary School.

After recovering the victims' bodies, at 8:30 p.m. the same day, the family held a funeral according to custom.

Upon receiving the information, leaders of Hiep Hoa district and representatives of departments of Hiep Hoa district visited, encouraged and expressed condolences to the families of the victims, and supported each victim's family with 3 million VND; Dong Lo commune government also supported 1 million VND to the families.
