Former player uses sex clip to blackmail woman

After having sex on the first date with an older woman, Son pretended to be someone else over the phone and blackmailed her for 1.5 billion VND.

Ms. Ly has a small family with a husband who earns money, making many people jealous. But her married life lacks empathy, so this woman always feels a lack of affection.

While surfing the internet, Ly met Bui Van Son (20 years old) and was quickly attracted to him when he introduced himself as a soccer player and spoke with a unique personality. After chatting for a while, the two decided to meet at a hotel as teenage lovers. During their lovemaking, Son secretly recorded the video with his phone, then made an excuse to go home first.

When she got home, Ly received a message from Son saying that her phone was lost. The person who found it threatened to post their sex clip online if she did not pay 1.5 billion VND.

Later, Ms. Ly received a phone call from an unknown number. A man said he had found the phone and if she did not pay the full 1.5 billion VND, he would post the clip online, send it to her husband or sell it to someone who makes sex films.

The blackmailer asked Ms. Ly to deliver the money at Thang Long Avenue to the intermediary named Son. The phone with the sex clip would be sent back through a driver at the Southern bus station.

Ms. Ly went to Hanoi to report to the Criminal Police Department. During this time, she met Son and was constantly persuaded by him to pay money to have peace.

On the evening of March 17, a photo cut from the sex clip was sent to Ly’s close friend’s Facebook message along with a threat to forward it to Ly’s husband. While instructing Ly to respond to the anonymous person, investigators determined that Son was the blackmailer.

At 2am on March 19, as scheduled, Ms. Ly brought about 300 million VND to the hotel to deliver. While receiving the money, Son was arrested by the police. He had a white iPhone with a video of Ms. Ly's lovemaking and the phone number used for blackmail.

On April 16, the Criminal Police Department (C45 - Ministry of Public Security) announced that it had just issued a decision to prosecute and detain Son for the crime of Extortion.

Son used to be a soccer player for a youth team, but was later terminated from his contract and became a driver. However, Son always bragged about being a promising player, even posting his match schedule to fool people.
