Former SLNA player unexpectedly leaves Hai Phong Club
(Baonghean.vn) - Defender Nguyen Van Duc has decided to part ways with Lach Tray Stadium right before the 2020 season, even though the contract between the two sides still has 1 year left to expire.
According to Nguyen Van Duc, the reason why he had to leave Hai Phong Club ahead of schedule had nothing to do with purely professional matters. The decision of the defender born in 1993 was a huge surprise to experts and football fans in the country, because there are only a few weeks left until the 2020 season officially starts.
Nguyen Van Duc is a player who grew up in the SLNA training center, in the same generation as Pham Manh Hung, Que Ngoc Hai, Nguyen Sy Nam. In the past, the defender from Hung Nguyen (Nghe An) played for SLNA U17, the team that won the championship at the National U17 Finals in 2009. Notably, in 2012, Nguyen Van Duc was also called up to the Vietnam U19 team.
Entering the 2014 season, Nguyen Van Duc was promoted by coach Nguyen Huu Thang to play in the SLNA first team. However, the number of times Nguyen Van Duc was able to put on his shoes was extremely modest (2 times). Faced with such a situation, at the beginning of the 2015 season, the defender from Hung Nguyen (Nghe An) decided to leave Vinh Stadium to join Hai Phong Club, in order to seek opportunities to develop his career.

Unfortunately at Lach Tray Stadium, Nguyen Van Duc still faces many difficulties in competing for a starting position with teammates playing in the right-back and left-back positions. In V.League 2019, the former SLNA player had 10 appearances for the Port City team, equivalent to 803 minutes. This is the season that Nguyen Van Duc has the most playing time in the V.League arena.
Currently, the 27-year-old defender is in contact with a number of teams competing in the V.League as well as the National First Division. With the 2020 season about to start, and teams having almost finalized their rosters, the chance for Nguyen Van Duc to find a new destination is quite slim./.
