Former SLNA player Nguyen Hong Viet pursues coaching career
(Baonghean.vn) - Former midfielder Nguyen Hong Viet has officially returned to his "old home" SLNA to take on the role of youth training.
After completing the AFC C-license coaching course, which took place from May 8 to May 20 in Tuy Hoa City (Phu Yen), Nguyen Hong Viet applied for a job at SLNA and was immediately recruited. According to the arrangement of SLNA's Board of Directors, the former player born in 1989 was in charge of the U12 team.
Nguyen Hong Viet is in the same generation as Nguyen Trong Hoang, Hoang Van Binh, Nguyen Dinh Hiep, Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Au Van Hoan... in SLNA's youth teams. This generation left a lot of impressions on experts and football fans of Nghe An through the U19 and U21 National Finals.

The tournament in which Nguyen Hong Viet played his best was the 2006 National U19 Finals held at Thanh Long Sports Center (HCMC). At this tournament, Nguyen Hong Viet won the title of Top Scorer (6 goals). Notably, in the final match against U19 Nam Dinh, Nguyen Hong Viet scored a hat-trick to help U19 SLNA win 3-1 to become the champion.
At that time, Nguyen Hong Viet was considered the most promising talent of Nghe An football. Being called up to the Vietnam U20 team in 2007 was clear evidence. With an ideal physique (1m77 tall) and a foundation of skillful personal techniques, the Vinh player received great expectations from experts and football fans in the country.

Unfortunately, Nguyen Hong Viet's career path did not go smoothly due to off-field issues. Although he won the V.League with SLNA in 2011, Nguyen Hong Viet did not leave much of a mark in terms of pure expertise in the Vinh Stadium team (played 43 matches, scored 8 goals).
At the end of the 2014 season, Nguyen Hong Viet decided to leave SLNA to seek new challenges. He played for Dong Nai (2015), Hai Phong (2016) and Ho Chi Minh City Club (2017-2018), before retiring at the beginning of this season. Nghe An football fans are hoping that Nguyen Hong Viet will achieve more success as a coach.
