Accordingly, at 12:00 on January 14, 2018, Tu Huu Phuoc drove a motorbike carrying Ngo Tan Thanh to the intersection of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - Hung Vuong (Nha Trang City) and met Ms. Mao Jian Mie - a Chinese national. Ms. Mie was carrying a handbag when Phuoc and Thanh approached and snatched it. Ms. Mie fell but still held onto the handbag, so she pulled Phuoc and Thanh down onto the street. At that moment, Phuoc abandoned the motorbike and ran away on foot, while Thanh was arrested by the people and handed over to the police for processing.
Coming from Khanh Hoa Club, Huu Phuoc played prominently as a central defender and was called up to the Vietnam Olympic team to participate in the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou. After that, he decided to leave Khanh Hoa to play for Hai Phong in the 2011 V-League.
After the 2011 season ended, the leadership of the Hai Phong team decided to part ways with the 1987-born central defender because he "lacked concentration and did not play with all his heart."

In the 2012 season, Huu Phuoc played for Quang Nam - at that time still playing in the First Division, but he only lasted 4 rounds. According to a source, the reason the team quickly liquidated Huu Phuoc was because this central defender had an unhealthy lifestyle, and gangsters came to the club to demand money.
