* Raising rabbits yields a profit of 200 million VND per year.
Recognizing the increasing value of commercial rabbit farming in the market, in August 2015, war veteran Nguyen Van Dung from branch 2 of Quynh Thach commune, Quynh Luu district, boldly established a rabbit farming model. To date, after more than a year, he has a farm with over 700 rabbits, bringing in hundreds of millions of dong in profit each year.

Before experimenting with rabbit farming, Mr. Dung invested over 200 million VND to convert nearly one acre of unproductive rice paddy land into a fish and poultry farm. However, due to fluctuating prices and rising feed costs, he often suffered losses.
In mid-2015, Mr. Dung bought 12 pairs of breeding rabbits worth 8 million VND to raise and breed. Due to a lack of knowledge and experience in caring for them, all the rabbits died after only one month. All his capital was lost.
Undeterred, Mr. Dung visited the Animal Breeding Center in Da Nang to learn about rabbit breeding techniques and care. After that trip, he bought 20 breeding rabbits. Now, after more than a year of successful breeding and raising, veteran Nguyen Van Dung has expanded his farm to a total of 700 rabbits, including 120 to 130 breeding rabbits, with the rest being commercial rabbits and young rabbits.

According to Mr. Dung's calculations, young rabbits raised for about 3 months can reach a weight of 2-2.2 kg/rabbit, and his family can sell commercial rabbits once a month. With market prices ranging from 90,000 to 100,000 VND/kg, his family has sold nearly 500 meat rabbits in the past 3 months, earning a profit of over 90 million VND. After deducting expenses, the net profit is over 200 million VND per year.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung shared: "After obtaining the breeding stock, I continued to borrow 150 million VND from the policy bank to renovate the rabbit hutch, install a lighting system, heating lamps, cages, and an automatic water system. Raising rabbits isn't difficult, but the care must be meticulous. To ensure the rabbits grow quickly, the feed source needs to be hygienic, the hutch must be designed to be warm in winter and cool in summer, and the hutch must be cleaned regularly and vaccinated against diseases..."
* Getting rich from forestry and cattle farming
After participating in the Laotian battlefield to defend the homeland, in 1981, Luong Van Xuyen was discharged from the army and returned to Na Chang village, Tien Phong commune (Que Phong district) to start a family. Life was full of difficulties and hardships, but with the willpower and resilience of a soldier, he was motivated to overcome challenges, develop the economy, and rise to prosperity.
In the early days, due to a lack of capital and production experience, Mr. Xuyen's family faced many hardships. When the government implemented a policy of entrusting forests to the people for management and protection, he boldly took on 15 hectares of forest in Na Chang village. Through the Veterans Association, he borrowed 30 million VND to invest in planting cinnamon. Because the limited capital was insufficient to hire laborers, he and his wife planted the entire area of forest land themselves.

After a period of care, the cinnamon forest brought the couple over 400 million VND. Recognizing the high economic value of cinnamon trees but the long harvesting time, he decided to plant acacia trees instead. The first crop of acacia trees sold for over 300 million VND, and with the main income from forestry, his family escaped poverty and became well-off. Currently, the second crop of acacia trees is in its third year and is preparing for harvest.
Along with reforestation, Mr. Xuyen invested in commercial cattle farming. Currently, his family owns over 20 cows, selling 3 each year and earning nearly 100 million VND. His family also dug a pond for fish farming and raised chickens and pigs.
Based on his family's economic success, Mr. Xuyen shared his experience, propagated and encouraged members and people in the region to switch to crop and livestock structures suitable to local conditions and terrain; helping people overcome poverty and achieve stable lives.
