Vinh City Veterans Condemn Priest Dang Huu Nam's Distortion

More than 200 veterans representing 2,700 veteran members of Vinh City attended the conference and had many opinions strongly condemning and criticizing the inhumane words of priest Dang Huu Nam.

The victory of April 30, 1975 has gone down in national history as a brilliant milestone that brought our country into a new era, the era of national independence and socialism. However, in the evening mass on April 29, 2017, priest Dang Huu Nam, parish priest of Phu Yen, used arrogant, provocative, defamatory, distorting, and falsifying words to deny the achievements of the revolutions, trample on the blood sacrifices of our ancestors to regain national independence; causing instability and dividing the great solidarity of the Vietnamese people.

Especially at 5:00 p.m. on April 30, 2017, at Phu Yen Parish Church (An Hoa Commune), priest Dang Huu Nam preached with extreme, reactionary words that "...April 30 is a day of mourning for the nation and the parish; the day that marks the Vietnamese people preparing to enter slavery to foreign powers, April 30 - the darkest day of the Vietnamese people"...

Faced with the distorted and untruthful arguments of priest Dang Huu Nam, more than 200 war veterans representing 2,700 war veterans' association members in Vinh City have strongly condemned and criticized the inhumane words of priest Dang Huu Nam.

At the same time, the Resolution on protesting against Mr. Dang Huu Nam, parish priest of Phu Yen, An Hoa commune, including 4 points:

Requesting His Excellency Archbishop of Vinh Diocese - Nguyen Thai Hop, Priest Nguyen Van Dinh, in charge of Thuan Nghia, to take measures to prevent and request Priest Dang Huu Nam to immediately stop his wrongdoings; requesting Mr. Dang Huu Nam to strictly comply with the law, end his activities of distorting and defaming the revolutionary history of April 30, 1975; requesting the government and competent agencies to take measures to handle Mr. Dang Huu Nam before the law; requesting Mr. Dang Huu Nam to apologize to the people of the whole country in general and the people of An Hoa commune, the war veterans of Quynh Luu district in particular for his words and actions distorting the history and traditions of April 30 of the Vietnamese people.
