Former commune chairman and vice chairman arrested for embezzling money

On the morning of November 15, Colonel Khuong Duy Oanh - Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, said that the police had just prosecuted and temporarily detained for 4 months Mr. Le Dang Duan (40 years old, Vice Chairman of Dong Linh Commune People's Committee, Thanh Hoa City) and Mr. Le Van Ngu (55 years old, former Chairman of this commune People's Committee).

According to the police, Mr. Ngu and Mr. Duan created fake documents to embezzle and take money for protecting protective forests and special-use forests that the city gave to the commune.
Also this morning, Chairman of Thanh Hoa City People's Committee Le Anh Xuan said that he is carrying out procedures to suspend Party activities and handling procedures after Mr. Ngu and Duan were prosecuted by the investigation agency.
According to Mr. Le Anh Xuan, Mr. Duan has been Vice Chairman of Dong Linh Commune People's Committee from 2013 to present.
Mr. Ngu was previously the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Linh commune, then transferred to the position of Chairman of Ham Rong ward (Thanh Hoa city) and has just retired since June 1.
