While Dao Thi Huyen in Nghe An received a prison sentence for organizing others to escape to Europe, her husband, the "boss", is still hiding abroad.

Yesterday (February 21), the Hanoi People's Court brought the defendants Dao Thi Huyen (born 1976), Cao Thi Lan (born 1976), Nguyen Thi Hoa (born 1984), Nguyen Anh Son (born 1986) and Nguyen Duy Chien (born 1982, all from Nghe An) to trial for the crime of organizing and brokering for others to flee abroad.

Huyen and Hoa used to be teachers.

According to the accusation, at the end of 2018, a series of Vietnamese people were deported back to their country by Sri Lankan and Turkish authorities.

The defendants in court.

Investigation results determined that these citizens were carried out by a criminal organization led by a Chinese subject, in collusion with Malaysian subjects, Vietnamese subjects in Europe and Vietnamese people in the country.

This network organizes for Vietnamese people to flee abroad by allowing them to leave the country to one of the Asian countries (Thailand, Malaysia...) under the guise of tourism.

Then used Taiwanese and Chinese passports (photo of Vietnamese people who escaped) to enter Sri Lanka. From there, continued to enter European countries under the name of Taiwanese and Chinese tourists and then stayed illegally.

The cost to pay the criminal organization is 19,000 USD to 22,000 USD/person. When they escape to Greece, their family in Vietnam has to pay.

According to the accusation, having fled to Greece since 2017, Ho Van Dinh knew how and where to organize Vietnamese people to flee abroad.

In early 2018, this "boss" joined an organization that helps Vietnamese people escape to Europe, led by an unidentified Chinese person.

Dinh assigned his wife, defendant Dao Thi Huyen (a teacher in Nghe An), to receive the documents, guide the procedures, receive the money, and then transfer the money to the ringleader in China.

Following her husband's instructions, Huyen received the passport and photos of the person traveling, then took them and sent them via Facebook to her husband to forward to the organizers.

Huyen also sent the phone number, Zalo account, and Facebook of the fugitive so that Dinh could directly communicate and guide the escape journey.

Defendant Huyen participated in organizing 21 people to escape to Europe, of which 16 people arrived in Europe and stayed; 5 people were deported back to the country.

The "boss's" wife received more than 300,000 USD from the fugitive's family, of which she benefited more than 11,000 USD.

Ho Van Dinh was identified as the key person who gathered Vietnamese people who wanted to work abroad and organized them to go to Europe. Through his wife, Dinh organized 21 people to go to Europe.

Currently, this "boss" is abroad. The investigation agency has prosecuted the defendant, issued a wanted notice, and separated the case. When he is arrested, he will be handled.

In this case, the defendants Hoa, Son, and Chien repeatedly brokered people who wanted to flee abroad for Dinh and his wife.

Defendant Lan participated in organizing the escape of 4 people abroad twice. Because all 4 people were deported back to the country, the defendant has not yet benefited.

After consideration, the panel sentenced defendant Huyen to 8 years in prison. The remaining defendants received 3 years in prison.
