According to RIA Novosti, Colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Oleg Starikov said in an interview that by the end of the summer, a decisive battle will take place in Ukraine. This will be the battle that will end the conflict.

“From a military point of view, military operations, strategic operations, and some other final operations will take place in August-September,” the former SBU colonel said.

Mr. Starikov noted that his forecast was based on military analysis. And according to the former official, political scientists also share his opinion.

In late May 2024, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said that Ukraine had lost more than 35,000 servicemen and more than 2,700 weapons in May.

Minister Belousov also said that Western countries, by supplying weapons to Kiev, transmitting intelligence data and training Ukrainian soldiers, are escalating and prolonging the armed conflict in the country.

The United States and more than 10 Western allies, including France and Britain, have allowed Ukraine to use aid weapons to attack military targets inside Russian territory. These countries essentially allow Ukraine to carry out cross-border attacks, on the condition that they only target military targets that Russia used to carry out the Kharkiv raids in northeastern Ukraine.
