Patrick Evra was involved in a brawl between players and fans before a Europa League match.

The incident happened when Marseille team was warming up for the match on the evening of November 2 at Vitoria de Guimaraes (Portugal). Some spectators jumped from the stands onto the field and collided withMarseille players. As the two sides were struggling, Evra approached and kicked a spectator. The incident then ended thanks to the timely intervention of the match security force.

For kicking a fan, Evra received a red card before the match started. This was the first red card to be shown before a match in Europa League history.

In addition to the red card, Evra could also face additional punishment from the European Football Federation. Guimaraes could also be fined for allowing fans to enter the pitch.

Evra was named on the bench for the match. The 36-year-old former Man Utd player has played nine games for Marseille since the start of the season.

The match then ended 1-0 in favor of home team Guimaraes. This was the Portuguese side's first win in Group I of the Europa League, and also took the team to third place with four points after four matches.

Meanwhile, Marseille had to stay in second place with six points. The French team is two points behind the leading team Salzburg (Austria) with two rounds left. Like the Champions League, the Europa League group stage has only the top two teams in each group to advance.
