Former Man Utd star receives red card before the match starts
Patrick Evra was involved in a brawl between players and fans before a Europa League match.
The incident happened when Marseille team was warming up for the match on the evening of November 2 at Vitoria de Guimaraes (Portugal). Some spectators jumped from the stands onto the field and collided withMarseille players. As the two sides were struggling, Evra approached and kicked a spectator. The incident was then ended thanks to the timely intervention of the match security force.
For kicking a fan, Evra received a red card before the match started. This was the first red card to be issued before a match in Europa League history.
In addition to the red card, Evra could also face additional punishment from the European Football Federation. Guimaraes could also be punished for allowing fans to storm the pitch.

Evra was named on the bench for the match. The 36-year-old former Man Utd player has played nine games for Marseille since the start of the season.
The match ended 1-0 in favour of home side Guimaraes, the Portuguese side's first win in Group I of the Europa League, and it moved them up to third place with four points from four matches.
Meanwhile, Marseille had to stay in second place with six points. The French team is two points behind the leading team Salzburg (Austria) with two rounds left. Like the Champions League, the Europa League group stage only has the top two teams in each group to advance.
