Former football star Van Sy Son: 'As a player, don't just play for your own brand'
(Baonghean.vn) - From a professional perspective, former player Van Sy Son, a famous defender of SLNA in the late 90s and early 20s, expressed his own feelings about the professional problems of his old team.
Recalling the golden age of Nghe An football, it is the memory of matches taking place at 2:00 p.m. in the scorching Lao wind. Hot on the field, hot in the stands, any opponent when stepping foot in Vinh stadium must be wary of SLNA's fiery, fierce playing style. The left-back of the day was one of the people who participated in the period of 6 years of SLNA's undefeated run at "Thanh Vinh Fire Pan" (1996 - 2001).

The former SLNA captain recalled: “In our time, we only practiced and practiced. The teachers always reminded us that as a son of Nghe An, we always have the qualities and fighting spirit in all fronts. If we do not practice well, we will never achieve any results when we enter the field. Once, during a practice match, I even “hit” Sy Hung and Sy Thuy. I wonder if the players today have nights when they put their hands on their foreheads, tossing and turning, unable to sleep because they do not understand why they lost like we did?”
The assistant coach of Hanoi T&T Club shared more: "Of course, the players are different now, but I think the most important thing is that every player when on the field always plays for the fans, for their family and for the flag, not for their own brand."
“I think the team and the fans are always number 1. The important thing is that the players must know what they should sacrifice for. Don’t play for yourself to be noticed by other teams, too hastily dream of a new future and then end up playing for yourself on the field. That way you will never get the expected results!” - former player Van Sy Son concluded.
Former player Van Sy Son was born into a family with the best football tradition in Nghe An. He is the son of Mr. Van Sy Chi, a former famous player of The Cong Club and Vietnam National Team. Together with two brothers Van Sy Hung and Van Sy Thuy, Van Sy Son created a famous trio of Nghe An football. When Van Sy Son was still playing at "Thanh Vinh Fire Pan", people passed on a story that the grass on the sidelines of Vinh Stadium was bare not because of the sun, but because of Van Sy Son's tackles. He contributed to Song Lam Nghe An until 2007 when he was 36 years old. After that, he joined Hanoi T&T and is currently the assistant coach of Hanoi T&T. |
