Former comrades of the Vietnam Volunteer Army Regiment in Laos held a traditional meeting
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 11, at the meeting hall of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command, the Association of Former Comrades of Regiment 176 of the Vietnamese Volunteer Army in Laos held a traditional meeting to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the founding of Regiment 176 (March 30, 1973 - March 30, 2018) and the 20th anniversary of the founding of the association (1998 - 2018).
Attending the ceremony were Lieutenant General Pham Van Long - former member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, former Commander of Regiment 176; Major General Tran Huu Tuat - former Deputy Commander of Military Region 4, former Commander of Regiment 176; representatives of Military Region 4 Command, Veterans Association, Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Nghe An province and many veterans of Regiment 176 from the northern provinces and Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh provinces.

In 1973, to meet the development of forces on the Western front, Regiment 176 was established on March 30, 1973 in Nam Xa Nam village, Lao People's Democratic Republic. The predecessors of the Regiment were Battalions 42 and 43 of Nghe An Provincial Military Command; Battalions 44 and 48 of Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command, Battalion 50 of the frontline laborers and a number of other units.
Immediately after its establishment, the regiment took on combat duties in a very large area including the provinces of Xieng Khouang, Bolikhamxay, Khammouane, Vientiane... of Laos with many famous places and battles such as Muong Ngat, Se Bang Phai, Muong Nham, Hin Dan...
After 45 years of building, fighting and growing, Regiment 176 has achieved many outstanding feats of arms and was awarded the noble It-Xa-La Medal by the Lao Party and State. The collective of Regiment 176 and its affiliated units, Battalion 4, Infirmary 53, Base Team 1 and Lieutenant Nguyen Van Tan, Deputy Captain of Company 2, were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State and many other noble medals...
With the criteria of volunteerism and comradeship spirit, since its establishment (1998 - 2018), the Association of Former Comrades of Regiment 176 has well organized activities to encourage former comrades to promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers"; marching to revisit old battlefields; visiting, encouraging and helping former soldiers in the unit with difficult circumstances; working together to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, participating in educating traditions for the younger generation, building cultural residential areas...

At the ceremony, former comrades of Regiment 176 and Lao students studying at Vinh University together recalled the memories of the loyal fighting solidarity between the two peoples and armies of Vietnam and Laos. Along with that, summarizing the activities of the Association in the past time; sharing experiences in gratitude activities and building families in daily life today.
On this occasion, the Regiment's Veterans Association presented longevity gifts to veterans in the unit who are 70, 75, 80 years old.../.
