(Baonghean.vn) -After three days adrift at sea, at 4:30 PM on August 14, 2012, the fishing vessel NA95789TS and its 14 fishermen were rescued by the 2nd Naval Squadron of the Nghe An Border Guard and brought safely ashore.

Earlier, at 10:10 PM on August 13, 2012, the fishing vessel NA 957889TS, captained by Mr. To Duy Chau, 31 years old, residing in Quynh Nghia commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province, was operating at coordinates 18 degrees 38 minutes, 106-47, 65 nautical miles from shore in the sea area bordering Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces when its engine malfunctioned. Despite attempts to repair it, they were unsuccessful. At that time, there were 14 crew members on board, all from Quynh Luu district.

Upon receiving the report, the Nghe An Border Guard Command promptly dispatched the BP061102 vessel of Squadron 2 to conduct the rescue operation. After 20 hours, working through the night, the Border Guard vessel reached the distressed ship, rescued 14 crew members, and towed the damaged vessel safely to port.

Captain Phan Van Thanh, Deputy Commander of the 2nd Border Guard Squadron in Nghe An, who directly commanded the rescue vessel that just arrived at port, said: Upon receiving news of the fishermen's boat in distress, the unit proactively contacted the watch station to guide the captain on how to use safety measures at sea, preventing potential accidents, and immediately dispatched 11 officers and soldiers along with the BP 061102 vessel to the rescue. It took 8 hours, through the darkness, for the Border Guard vessel to reach the distressed boat. Immediately, the rescue plan was implemented to ensure the safety of the 14 fishermen. After 12 hours, the distressed vessel was towed safely ashore.

Currently, the health of the crew members is assured, and the vessel is anchored at the pier of Squadron 2 - Nghe An Border Guard.
