"President Donald Trump's disregard for diplomacy discredits our country on the international stage. This move undermines the foundation of our democracy."
"Mr. Trump isolates America in the world, leaves us behind, and threatens the institutions and alliances that American leaders have built since World War II to unite the world," — former Secretary of State John Kerry wrote in a letter.
In the letter, Mr. Kerry also wrote: "In all my decades of public service, I have never seen a leader as dangerous as Donald Trump, and of course, I have never seen the President of the United States threaten our national security through his Twitter statuses."
Former Secretary of State John Kerry's statements come amid escalating tensions over Venezuela and the US's recognition of opposition leader Juan Guaido as the South American country's leader.
