Former Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment Arrested

On November 28, the Investigation Police Agency, Ministry of Public Security (C03) initiated additional prosecution for the crime ofViolations of bidding regulations cause serious consequencesto investigate violations related to Nhat Cuong Mobile occurring at the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment and related units.

On the same day, C03 prosecuted, issued arrest warrants and searched Mr. Nguyen Tien Hoc (former deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment), Ms. Pham Thi Kim Tuyen (Head of Business Registration Office, Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment) and Le Duy Tuan (Business Director of Dong Kinh Investment and Development Company Limited). The three were prosecuted for the crime.Violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences,according to clause 3, article 222 of the 2015 Penal Code.

C03 also initiated additional charges against internationally wanted suspect Bui Quang Huy (General Director of Nhat Cuong Trading and Service Company Limited, Director of Nhat Cuong Software Solutions Company Limited).

Major General To An Xo (Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security) said that the prosecution of the above individuals is part of the expansion of the investigation into the case that occurred at Nhat Cuong Company. 11 days ago, this case was included in the list of major cases that need to be monitored and directed by the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption.

Nhat Cuong General Director Bui Quang Huy was identified as the leader of a large-scale electronic equipment smuggling ring, hiding thousands of billions of dong in revenue. Huy was prosecuted for three crimes:Smuggling, Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequencesandMoney laundering; fled Vietnam.
