Former US intelligence officer: Odessa could annex into Russia
(Baonghean.vn) - Former US intelligence officer assessed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are in a "terrible" situation in the Zaporozhye and Kharkov regions. Moreover, the longer the conflict continues, the more territory Ukraine will lose, and Odessa may be annexed by Russia.

“Russia has pushed them into a corner. Soon, they will push the Ukrainian army into a cauldron. And Kiev, instead of withdrawing from their positions, is sending reinforcements, which makes the situation much worse. Because, on the Russian side, the army is advancing very strongly,” said former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter.
According to this expert, the conflict will soon end with the complete collapse of the Ukrainian army, which is running out of soldiers and weapons. The counteroffensive has stopped. The Ukrainian army suffered heavy losses but could not achieve success.
Explaining the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that Ukrainian President Zelensky forced the country's Armed Forces to use NATO tactics and as a result, they completely collapsed.
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered his troops not only to redouble their attacks, but to do so in the way they were trained by NATO,” said former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter. “So they’re back on the front lines, again. And they’re just dying.”
The former US intelligence officer explained that NATO's strategy is to directly attack the enemy in large numbers, aiming to penetrate the defense line, instead of attacking individually in small groups.
According to Scott Ritter, a prolonged conflict will only result in further territorial losses for Ukraine, including Odessa. Ukraine needs access to the Black Sea to survive. At the same time, Ritter does not rule out the possibility that the large coastal city of Odessa could join Russia, since it has a large Russian-speaking population.
“If Russia now establishes control over Odessa, it will be a terrible blow to Ukraine,” said former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter./.
