Former US military intelligence officer talks about 'less than a week' gift to Ukraine
The Russian military will quickly destroy the Patriot air defense system supplied to Ukraine, former US military intelligence officer Scott Ritter wrote on the social network X.

This was his response to former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt's article that other countries should follow Germany's example and also send air defense systems to Ukraine.
"Need to replace IRIS-T which was lost yesterday. What is the life expectancy of this new Patriot system? Less than a week. Keep up the good work!", he wrote.
A day earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the destruction of a Ukrainian IRIS-T air defense missile system installation.
Military campaign in Donbass
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. President Putin called its goal "to protect those who have been subjected to repression and genocide by the Kiev regime for the past eight years." He noted that the special military operation was a forced measure, Russia "has no other options, the security risk has been created to such an extent that it is impossible to respond with other measures."
According to him, Russia has been trying for 30 years to come to terms with NATO on security principles in Europe, but in response it has been met either with cruel deception and lies, or with pressure and blackmail, while the alliance, despite Moscow's objections, has gradually expanded and approached the borders of the Russian Federation.
